Poll Started 17 April 2007. Would you use a neighbour's broadband? You're connected at home but don't have wireless access. One day your laptop detects a strong signal from a neighbour's wireless router which you can access the web via. Which of these is nearest to your attitude?
A. I'd use it happily, without telling them
B. I'd ask them first if they minded
C. I'd generally avoid it, but may access quickly when needed
D. I'd ask if I could pay a portion of their bill and use it
E. I'd never use it, it's not mine, if I want wireless I'll get it

Been there and done it. I would never try and hack in to their PC but if they are going to give me an open connection then I will use it.Nothing to see here, move along.0

We've been told that its technically fraud (as if you don't have an agreement with your neighbour, you're stealing their identity by pretending your computer is theirs!)
So we're advised to decline sales of wireless adapters to anyone who admits that this is what they are to use it for.
Having said that, the street our PC shop is on, there are currently 7 networks and 4 of them are unsecured.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -
I've borrowed broadband from someone whilst at my parents house fixing their pc, but generally I wouldn't.0

Discovered a neighbouring network connection quite by accident, used it for a few months. When it was finally secured, it was on the same day my TalkTalk service came online. Worked out pretty well all things considered. I locked mine though, didn't want some cheeky mutt helping themself did I !0
