Hi Tiglath, hope you don't mind my following your diary.
I loved Being Human and your quote really struck a chord with me. (having several lists on the go at once

Gotta laugh - just explained to DH about ISAs, shares, unit trusts and ETFs etc, and he commented 'Now I have to admit I'm married to someone who works in finance; I could pretend I wasn't before!' Cheeky swine
At least he didn't comment on how we got into such a pickle as I work in the industry ... I wish I'd taken control before but we all have perfect vision with hindsight, don't we. I'm getting it sorted now and have carte blanche with that so I'm happy.

Payday. 3 big payments made - the final payment to Next due later today or tomorrow. Then I get a break on debt payments till 3rd, 10th & 15th Jan. Getting my annual rail ticket later or tomorrow - another big chunk to go from the bank. I sometimes feel like I'm sitting in a revolving office chair handing out wodges of £50 notes (not that I've seen one of those in years!)."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

I'm fed-up with the pressure of Christmas. The boss was trying again to get me to agree to go to the £50+ team lunch tomorrow even though she knows my situation and what my goals are. She even offered to pay for me, which I won't accept, although she is treating our immediate team to lunch on Friday as a thank you which she does periodically.
I know I'll get odd looks and questions from the rest of the department tomorrow when I'm the only one on the desk, and I don't care - I'll be covering 7 people's work for a couple of hours and that's fine. Now the whole department have decided everyone has to bring in themed food on Friday. They're getting a £2.50 box of shortbread from Farmfoods and they can like it or lump it. I don't have time to cook anything extravagant at such short notice even if I wanted to, and my immediate team have already got a Terry's chocolate orange each from me in their Santa stockings. Bah humbug. Next year I might take 2 weeks off BEFORE Christmas to avoid it all because they're really annoying me now and it's making me feel rebellious and stubborn. They're lovely people but they do flash the cash and don't seem to understand those who are budgeting. Rich City people - you can keep 'em. I overhead one person say she's got a £150k mortgage on a second house (a country farm) but she's going to pay it off with cash - it's an alien world really.
Looks like my Next statement isn't arriving today so I can't make the final payment on that until they've added the final couple of quid interest."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -
I decided it was time to start learning about real investing so I've opened a virtual trading account with The Share Centre for free to practice. We'll see how I do with my starting balance of £15k"Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
