I haven't asked for more money as I've said. I've asked for a better understanding of what they've done to ensure this doesn't happen again.0

Dont take things too harshly.
Some posters (hintza for example) I believe may have just been trying to be funny rather than being mean. You've accepted you were wrong quite gracefully (others usually start kicking and screaming, accusing us of working for the company in question, name calling etc) so kudos.
What the others were saying was right though. You cant sue for what might happen. You can only sue for something which actually did happen. Since no harm came to your pet (which is the main thing give we often regard them as furry family), theres really nothing to sue for. Sure an old lady might not notice, but then it would be her right to sue if that happened, not yours. Even a solicitor cant sue on your behalf without having written authorisation to act on your behalf.
While the company can plan to make sure quality control is stringent. Inevitably, things dont always go to plan though. But from what you've said, the company are actually being pretty good. They could have just fobbed you off with some spiel about we have high quality assurance here at blah blah. Acceptable rate of failure blah blah. Within limits set by blah blah. Heres a voucher for a replacement pouch. Think about it. Why would a company not care what was going into their products? If they didnt have stringent quality control I daresay this would be more widely common as well as it being probable that you would have encountered this problem before too.
IMO they've provided good customer serviceYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Hi OP
I think you want the company to explain how they are going to change things to make sure it doesn't happen again, such as by saying that they would change machine part y at x intervals in future - but if they reveal this then they risk someone publicising it, so they are unlikely to reveal that to you or the man in the street
It doesn't mean it won't happen, just that they won't share that info with youYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
