I HAVE accepted the advice given on here and I have said that I do NOT plan to proceed with my original intention.
For your information, of the people I contacted they all claimed to be independent financial advisors AND mortgage brokers and I contacted them BEFORE I posted on this forum.
In future, please get your facts assembled before going on the offensive.
Holly, is a respected member of these forums who gives her time and advice for free, and who has simply given factual advice to you.
The only person being rude or nasty is you.
The simple fact is that you have already consulted professional advisers who all say this can be done (presumably having been informed of all the facts).
Since you already had professional advice before coming on MSE, what is the point in in asking a bunch of nameless faceless strangers on an internet forum the same questions? It is a reasonable question.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Holly is rude, you are rude.
So nobody comes on here for a second opinion?
The problem with forums, such as this, is that because it is so remote from a face-to-face meeting people behave towards others in a way which they would not dream of doing in "real life".
Having had this experience I most certainly would not consider consulting either Holly or yourself in your professional capacities.
Goodbye!0 -
so what was the point in resurrecting this thread from over 6 weeks ago by simply restating the question if you had already decided to go with the consensus opinion of the forum 6 weeks ago rather than the advice you had already got face to face from 4 "experts" ?WoodruffsDad wrote: »Having had this experience I most certainly would not consider consulting either Holly or yourself in your professional capacities.Goodbye!
presumably you were hoping for responses from new people that would contradict that given 6 weeks ago - well it hasn't
I do feel sorry for you as my father helped me on to the property ladder so it does seem unfair that a child can't do the reverse, but as the saying goes - c'est la vie!0 -

Sorry wasn't my intention and I can say from my observations that it certainly wouldn't have been Daisy's either - so I do hope that you rethink that somewaht unjustified accusation.
However, as a side note, such accusations appear to a more common response from OPs when the provided info doesn't fit their agenda - yet they keep on asking the same question over and over in the thread hoping that what they want to hear will magically appear.WoodruffsDad wrote: »So nobody comes on here for a second opinion?
I presume sitting down with a further 3 paid advisers after the first, would count as a 2nd opinion - but maybe there are other reasons why you felt the forum would provide more valued/accurate assistance - which can be the only reason I can think of for seeking guidance from a 5th party in the matter (after the 4 IFAs already consulted). OOec's above post also hits the nail I feel.WoodruffsDad wrote: »Having had this experience I most certainly would not consider consulting either Holly or yourself in your professional capacities.
I actually don't advise face to face, but act as a consultant to the industry (and prev ran 2 mge desks whom mge brokers nationwide contacted for placement assistance) - nevertheless its unfortunate you feel that way about the guidance given, and apologise if you felt in anyway that my responses were at all rude - as I say it certainly wasn't my intention or motivation in posting in response to your comments, but I did hope to guide you freely from the professional experience I have.
Can't please em all of the time I suppose....

I cannot see the slightest hint of rudeness in any of Holly's posts. You, on the other hand, OP, are not behaving in a manner befitting a man of nearly 70. Remember that you are coming here for FREE advice, but it is up to you as an independent adult to make your own decisions. Nobody can tell you what is definitively the right thing to do, and frankly you don't seem interested in any advice that doesn't confirm your idea.WoodruffsDad wrote: »Why do you find it necessary to be so rude and nasty?

OP, we tried to answer your questions repeatedly.
All you have done is be offensive to insult two very respected, friendly members of this forum. All posters on this thread have given of their time and experience for free and in an attempt to assist.0 -
I think it would probably be best if there were no further responses to the OP.
If he wishes, let him proceed with someone who has advised it will be possible and then read his further posts in a few weeks time when his mortgage offer has been withdrawn before completion.0
