No VAT receipt from Tesco Direct

  • I'm having similar issues with Tesco and VAT receipts. I bought an ipad for my own business back in September and have requested VAT receipts since the date of purchase. I have emailed and phoned and all they will say is that they have outsourced this admin task abroad and there is a huge backlog. They will not give out the VAT number over the phone or provide a hand written receipt. They are more than unhelpful. I have to say I'm gobsmacked at the inefficiency of this large organisation - who, on the face of it, seem to be so well organised. Nearly 4 months waiting for one VAT receipt. Not good.

    The Tesco direct site is owned and operated by Tesco Stores Limited, trading under various names including Tesco direct, a company registered in England whose registered office is at Tesco House, Delamare Road, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire EN8 9SL, with Company Registration No. 519500 and VAT No. GB220 4302 31.

    Took me 10 seconds to find.
  • Its not about the actual number, I can pull it from any receipt. Its about an actual receipt, its a requirement that you have a physical receipt/invoice for a purchase when you reclaim the VAT.

    I have resolved my issue now, I went to the top & emailed the CEO, his team said they would look into it, I left it a short while & emailed again, I had a response within hours, a printed invoice & a apology.

    I suggest anyone with a similar problem do the same.

    I have had the same issue with these total muppets twice now.

    I am still awiating one receipt but I do happen to have the email address of one the support agents that works in the executive team.

    I also would copy the CEO. You can get this info by googling CEO email address

    I figure the more we all harass them they will solve the issue, by the way this issue has not been fixed for over a year

    Why don't you just go into your normal Tesco store with your online receipt and ask customer services to write you out a VAT recipt for the goods bought online.

    I couldn't get a receipt one time from the self service fuel pumps, so went into the store and told them. They brought out a pad and wrote the vat receipt for me.

    It is not Rocket science ! All Tesco,asda,Morrisons etc, whatever will have the same VAT number
  • I received a receipt by e-mail a few days ago for an item I bought last November. Had e-mailed them twice way back when and had all but forgotten about this when the receipt arrived out of the blue. A bit of a joke really.
