Kindle

Can you transfer books from one Kindle to another, registered to a different person.
Daughter is buying a Kindle fire and would be good if I could transfer some of my books to her.

Thanks in anticipation for your reply

  • Thanks people, will have a look at that link. There is one particular book granddaughter wants on swimming and its only available on Kindle.
Thinking if I get it it will automatically go to my iPad as well and she could always borrow that to read it from.

One way if the other don't work
    Thanks.

It will allow you to read it on your kindle(or equivalent) and your iPad / Phone etc at the same as her , it is a silly thing that DRM is famous for.

One day they will realise that they don't get any extra revenue from a paper based product , e.g. I buy a book for 6.99 read it look after it and sell it for 5.00 next person does same for 4.00 next for 3.00 etc until it it end's up in a car boot sale for 0.25 then it ends up in a charity shop at 0.50 and then returns to the charity shop, until it becomes useless and (hopefully) becomes recycled. Author and publisher don't get any more money despite 50+ people read the original, so why don't they sell them for 0.99 and get 50 x the royalties from that it really is a silly of state of affairs. Oh and whilst I am on my high horse eBooks attract VAT so the gov gets 20% and at the same time paper books destroy trees and don't attract VAT weird yes?
Sorry about going on but it really is one of those things (apart from politicians) that really get up my nose:(

    That's amazon.com

If you are in UK you are with amazon.co.uk and lending books to others is not available.

I would love to be proved wrong....

Aaaah sorry zLD my fault (lack of knowledge of the device) but the OP has worked out a work around and of course there are other ways around it but they are grey areas that I would never suggest , after all that's why we have google.
Apologies to springs65 and thanks zzzLazyDaisy

  • Hmmm just an addition really , since Amazon UK is actually delivered by Amazon Luxembourg does said state have laws to prevent sharing of books ?? Or am I being picky/confused about corporation tax laws and their interpretation of which laws they subscribe to

I agree the pricing thing irritates me especially when you want an older book, that has been budget priced in print subsequently.

They must also save, print, distribution, postage costs.

Quite why the VAT element hasn't been really tackled (apart from the HMRC being quite happy to collect it) is beyond me.
