PCN Issued Yesterday - Ignore, or appeal?

I received a PCN yesterday from JD Parking Consultants whilst parked in the residents car park of my girlfriends flat. No, I don't have a residents parking permit, but there are plenty of spaces so there truly is no issue. The PCN was also issued at around midnight of all times!
I've read this and other forums about these tickets, so know full well not to pay it. However, I am unsure what the best course of action is here, simply to ignore or to appeal the ticket, go to POPLA and cost the parking company a few quid.
If I do appeal, what should I put as the reason? Should I actually attempt a genuine defence, or just say something petty but fun, along the lines of "To cost you the price of one POPLA appeal"?

Sounds private, so ignore it.0

The easiest option if you are the registered keeper is to ignore, it takes time and effort to go through their sham appeal and popla, if that is in short supply just ignore the scammers.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Ignore them completely unless you are up for testing them at POPLA. I reckon their appeals system would be as useless as their very basic brand new website:

there's a smell of ex-clamper about that simplistic rubbish! :rotfl:PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Oh that's definitely what they are, they've been involved in a fair few disputes around the Leeds area.
What I don't get is are they really sending someone out in the middle of the night to "patrol" a car park with less than 20 spaces and controlled entry? Is it possible it's the management company, or a resident with access to a book of tickets?0 -

And when you click on the link "Appeals" from that page you then read:
This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help.
And they actually claim to be "a leading company specialising in car park management and enforcement throughout Yorkshire."
Smells like Yorkshire sheep poo to me.Got a ticket from ParkingEye? Seek advice by clicking here: Private Parking forum on MoneySavingExpert.:j0 -
To be fair to them, the PCN itself gives the URL for appeals as parkingcsl.co.uk/appeals, it doesn't direct you to their own site.
Yep, always best to be fair. But I like the idea of a resident with a book of tickets.

The ticket was issued by attendant number "001" no less! It's almost an honour to have been ticketed by who I can only assume is the best of the best!
If it was attendant "007" I suppose that could merit some concern!Got a ticket from ParkingEye? Seek advice by clicking here: Private Parking forum on MoneySavingExpert.:j0
