In process of changing electricity supplier - Meter Broken?

It seems farcical to me that Eon can be allowed to reply in such slap dash fashion.
David, ScottishPower Co. rep. seems very helpful and willing. If only all co.s / reps operated that way.0 -
Thank you David once again.
I've just emailed all of the details over to onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com0 -
I cant see it being in your favour Sobie, I have seen and photographed as evedence of quite a few transposed bills with BG and sent it to both BG and my management. It is totally ridiculous how any of the suppliers could ever think that people would use 1 unit in the daytime hours and 20 plus in the night time cheap rate hours, but this is how auto billing systems are programmed. The fault lies to begin with poor or untrained meter readers. I know some Eon meter readers and they inform me that Eon dont train them about eco 7 meters. Its all very slapdash and the end result is people in the main end up getting cheap electric bills and many keep quiet about it0

Hi sobie
Sorry about the poor advice you received when you contacted us about this.
It seems David from Scottish Power is on this but if you need any help from us let me know. Drop an email to the address in my Profile and I'll be happy to pick this up from our end.
We've a specialist team who deal with transposed readings and they'll be the ones sorting this out.
You should've been put through to this team when you contacted us and, again, I'm sorry you weren't.

Thanks to all the replies.
And Thank you Malc for appologising on Eon's behalf.
Im a strong believer in honesty is the best policy however am I now going to be landed with an excessively large leaving bill from Eon because of my honesty?
Edit* I have just been reading http://www.energy-uk.org.uk/publication/finish/43/412.html and can see that it cannot be back billed is this correct? *0 -
Sobie, I dont think you will be charged anything if you push it to the limit. We have had an Eon cust on here who ended up getting all back bill dropped and i think he d been several years transposed. The most they can sting you for is one years back billing, so long as you havent stopped meter readers accessing your meters at any time, its their fault. its time Eon, and BG etc did a bit of in depth training to meter readers and sorted out all the miles out time switches around also. Nearly all my meter reading mates except two of them, dont even know the purpose of the timer switch and would nt even dream about checking it. They also havent the faintest about which rate equals which period. with us (BG, EDF, Scot Power ) any meter which shows up Rate 1 go s straight into the night rate regardless of which period it actually is, so its then down to how the auto billing systems work. and like yourself, you did nt have much idea how it worked. but that is normal anyway with 90% of custtomers0

Hi sobie
Just to let you know, the Billing Code is part of our Codes of Practice.
I confirm, where we're at fault for not billing customers correctly, we'll not charge for any energy used more than 12 months from the time the problem was put right.
Hope this is useful.
