Think rb10 was referring to this:
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/instant_access/loyaltysaver/Are you eligible for Loyalty Saver?
To apply for a Loyalty Saver account you must have had continuous membership* with Nationwide for a minimum of 5 years. Qualification for higher interest rates is dependent upon the length of continuous membership of Nationwide.
* A member means a customer with a current account, savings account or mortgage which includes those held with Dunfermline, Derbyshire and Cheshire Building Societies.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -

The one mentioned here:

I've been with the Nationwide for over 35 years, however this account is branch based and our nearest branch is over 30 miles away, after our local one closed.

You can apply for the Loyalty Saver account over the phone.
Once it's open, you can operate it in branch, by phone or online.0 -
BEWARE - I recently applied for an account with Derbyshire BS. An application form followed in the post - it was pre-filled with someone elses details!!! Had to report a breach in data security to the ICO (.gov.uk).
Cant help wondering how many other people have the same experience.Derbyshire have announced issue 8 of this account paying 2.2% with bonus. Down from 2.5% for issue 7. More bad news for savers.0
