Window 8 is Windows 7 with a lobotomy, in other works the new Vista.
Having said that I have not had the problems you describe.
Is your Windows 8 up to date with the latest upgrades?
When you say you cannot get on line, is the PC finding your internet connection?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

You could try a system restore. From the desktop move your mouse to the bottom right, click on search and type in system restore. The select the appropriate item from the settings selection.

I'm at my limit now, hopefully someone else will come along, failing that i guess you'll just have to reinstall the operating system.

When you installed Windows 8 did you leave your network cable plugged in or set up wireless access BEFORE you installed an anti-virus?

You probably have some crap that has infected your computer now - what are the pop ups saying that you mention?

when l went to a website a pop up would give me alternative link to click on or if l went to lovefilm it would pop up with codes to get 3 months free, also something which l found out was called something text which if you hovered the mouse over it an advert would pop up, we had windows 7 on it before this but pc world told us if we installed windows 8 when it came out they would give us our money back for it, norton antivirus was installed when it was windows 7

Oh okay, I'm sorry, maybe it is something to do with the way Windows 8 works, I have left that well alone because I didnt like the look of it either.

I dont think you will be able to get your money back, but hey you can always try.

    Text-Enhance?

If so, there'll be a browser add-on causing it.

Determine which browser add-on and remove it.
