reducing the size of a photo

  • Or you could convert the photo to a pdf file. This is what I do when I want to send some photos as attachments to emails. This process usually reduces a 2 or 3 mb jpg to around 200kb. The quality of the picture will suffer slightly but it's good when you just want someone to ''get the picture''. No good obviously if they need a proper photo file.

Crop the image to remove any mucky background.

    Resize the image.

Some avatars need to be about 80px x 80px, some 100px, some 120px.

Just see the rules for the site in question and make sure the maximum dimension in pixels doesn't exceed the given size.

I have a few avatars and have them all saved in various size options ... sad I know !!:j
