Then use their formal complaints procedure to get a sensible itemised list of charges from them. And tell them you will take if further if you need to.
Also, if cruise nation are acting as the middleman between you and the cruise company/airline you could go directly to the website of the other companies and check their cancellation charges to get an idea of how reasonable cruise nation are being with their sums.

I have to be honest, I don't get all the people saying that you're being unreasonable -on the face of it, it's the sort of thing I'd expect travel insurance to pay out for as well.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Only if the insurance compny covers pregnancy, if they all did I guess travel insurance would be much more expensive. As said it didnt cover us back in the day

On the face of it I do agree it should only be a lost deposit unless of course their t and c say something different
  • Photome - I guess my point is that I would expect, regardless of the reason for cancellation, the majority of our money back - particularly given that I have given 4.5 months notice. I don't actually see it as anyone's "fault" - it's merely an unforeseen, unpredicted, unplanned circumstance. (Interesting that some people think I'm blaming the insurers/Cruise Nation for me becoming pregnant - wherever do people get such ideas!)
BTW, I have no objection to people stating their opinions, whatever they are. But I do find it ignorant that some people jump to huge conclusions, without asking for the correct facts, & then insulting people with their wrong assumptions.
No, it wasn't a low deposit offer. And I would never pay anyone a £2004 deposit, whatever the holiday. £2004 is the full holiday amount. The holiday that we booked is still 2 months away.

It's very interesting that some people here are jumping to HUGE conclusions about me! Makes me laugh!
ie: that the pregnancy was an "expected event",

I think, if you re-read, what they are saying is it was AVOIDABLE. And, in the end, it was your decision to continue with the pregnancy.
  • Please note, everyone - I AM NOT BLAMING ANYONE FOR BECOMING PREGNANT! WE ARE DELIGHTED BUT WE DIDN'T EXPECT IT!!! (for reasons I don't want to, or feel the need to, disclose on a public forum).
As someone stated, I thought that this was exactly the kind of thing that travel insurance was meant to cover people for!

Have you read the terms and conditions of the supplier? sorry if i missed that bit.

I still dont see why you would expect your deposit back, however far out you cancelled, that is the whole point of the deposit but with 4.5 months notice I wouldnt expect it to cost anymore

not all policys are the same though, if you wanted pregnancy covered you could have got a policy that included it, easy in hindsight of course
  • Thank you, Elsien. I don't get some people's responses, either! Especially the rude ones. Completely unnecessary. But I guess you get all sorts of people out there - arrogant ones, bad-mannered ones, ignorant, disrespectful ones.... I'm certainly learning a lot about using open forums! ha ha (It's the first time I've ever been on one.)

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, I think I will write one last complaint letter & give them a deadline for response before taking further action.

So going back to the original question, who is the cruise with and what are their cancellation terms and conditions?

If they have acted within their terms, what further action are you going to take

I see elsien has asked again, you really need to check those terms with the cruise supplier
