Extremely threatening letters regarding parking fine.

I received a parking fine on 13 June 2012 from LDK Security Group LTD for displaying "the wrong ticket" in my car. (Both LDK parking meters were broken, one had been jammed with chewing gum the other had a sign on saying "out of order, use machine opposite") I took photos of both machines.. Not knowing the area I paid the required amount to park for an hour (£1.00) in a ticket machine directly opposite, next to the car park. Returning 25 minutes later I had a fine stuck to the window saying I owed LDK £120.
I called the LDK office to ask why I'd been fined and they were rude, arrogant and demanded I pay immediately via credit card and the reason I'd been ticketed was because the ticket I had displayed was not for their car park. They were not interested in the fact their ticket machines were broken. I don't have a credit card so hung up.
I decided (after reading this site) not to pay. As expected letters started arriving, then demands then letters from debt collectors and now solicitors. The letters are extremely worrying and the fine has now increased to over £200.
I feel the bullying tactics have gone too far.
I have kept the original parking fine, the ticket I purchased and the photos of their broken machines.
Any advice would be greatly received.

It's not a FINE!What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

You havn't been 'fined' because a private concern cannot issue fines. Ignore and do not contact them again. Keep your evidence though, just in case they do waste their money taking you to court. You will easily get it thrown out when the judge sees that you in fact paid to park.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

Which solicitors? Graham White? £207.25 by any chance?
They are all empty threats designed to scare you into paying (including the solicitor's ones) so just keep ignoring. You are probably getting near the end now.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

It would appear I'm not the only one to have received letters from this company.0 -
Yes it's from Graham White solicitors....and the amount is exactly as you suggested £207.25.

Nah, its a bog standard letter from them, always the same amount, always from them, and always completely unenforceable toothless bollox. They send out dozens, all identical. Ignore it, its just waste paper.0 -

Fear not a letter from Graham White is not any threat ..I've had over a dozen, for six fake tickets, including "final , final warning" letters ..but it is all just BLUFF...IGNORE them ..NOTHING else will happen despite all their bullpoo letters threatening all sorts of dire consequences ..0 -
If you want to study the letter in depth you'll notice that the £207.25 wouldn't actually fall due as per his breakdown unless he actually took you to court and won (for example costs for issuing a 'court warrant' etc. which you can't get until you've won in court and the victim still refuses to pay after 28 days), although you might be forgiven for thinking you need to send him this money now.
Not that I would ever allege that Mr Sobell is trying to mislead you in any way for potential financial gain, oh no siree Bob!Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Cheers guys, I feel a lot better already. I'm still keeping hold of the "evidence" though. Thanks0

Over the last few days I have seen the following phrases concerning the receipt of PPC letters:-
"extremely threatening", "my wife is panicking", "sleepless nights", "worried sick".
This is the effect that PPCs are having on ordinary people with their pretend official letters liberally sprinkled with mention of CCJs, bailiffs and credit records etc. I have raised this with the BPA and they are not interested. In my opinion some of these letters seem to fall foul of the Protection From Harassment Act.
The whole PPC racket should be closed down because of this despicable behaviour. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
