I upgraded then got offered a better upgrade..

Options
Hi All,

I am just wondering if there's anything I can do.

I upgraded with Phones4U yesterday to the Iphone 5 16GB and paid £245 upfront for a £26 contract.

I then was rang that evening by their upgrade team who offered me the same £26 contract with a half price ipohne 5 32GB. Now that comes out at an upfront cost of £195, which I obviously would have gone for had I been offered it in the first place.

Now, I asked him on the phone and he said I would not be eligable for an upgrade as I'd already taken one, so I asked if I would be able to be refunded the cost as I obviously would have chosen that package had I been offered it.

Is there anything I can do? I want to go to the shop and ask them to refund me the difference as I don't feel as though I've been given good customer service if they've got me to sign up to one contract and then another of their team has offered me a better deal. This is my first upgrade.

What do you think? Has this happened to anyone else and did you get anywhere?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you very much.

Unfortuantly in store purchases have no cooling off period, and Phones 4U do not offer any in store returns period

  • No harm in complaining.

I switched my 3 mobile dongle to 3 MiFi in store and signed up to a contract, but when I rang 3 customer services to cancel old contract, they gave me a better offer. After a LOT of to-ing and fro-ing and some serious head frying, I got the cheaper deal :) (which is a miracle considering 3 are a nightmare to work with!)

No cooling off period exists on an upgrade, since it's not a new contract,
Bu since it's the same company who retain your business, you have nothing to lose by pleading your case.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I went into the shop and spoke to the manager, who was really nice. She simply rang up their Head Office there and then and I am getting a refund of £50.

    Thank you very much Phones4U.
