Barclaycard First Statement - Is this normal?

I opened a Barclaycard Platinum online for a balance transfer offer on 3/11/12. Ive checked myBarclaycard today, and my first statement has already been produced, dated the 13/11/12. Is it normal to have a statement so soon after opening a Barclaycard? All my other cards, the first statement has been generated a month from account opening.
The thing that concerns me, is that I havent even had the pin number through for the card yet, and Ive read so many horror stories with people having their accounts closed soon after opening! Thanks

It's not unheard of, if your account was given a statement cycle date of 13th.0

I opened mine a few weeks ago now, it took 5 days for the balance transfer to go through, and Ive been expecting my first statement/due date for some time.
However Ive just checked htis morning, and it has given me the first statement date as 9th december! Lovely surprise meaning that Ive got a month free of repayments this month!!
It must just be the date that you opened it - yours must have been just before the cut-off for that first statement and mine must have been just after which is why you have got your first statement and Ive got a bit of leeway.
Regarding the PIN, I had my PIN through shortly after I got the car. There was a slight delay, but only because I moved house mid-transfer and the PIN was sent to my old address.
EDIT: Just re-read your post and realised you have only just applied for the balance transfer. You could give them a call and query it? As mentioned, I have a 6 week gap in between opening it and the first statement! At present my statement is listed as "zero due".
If you register for internet banking, you can keep an eye on your barclaycard account as often as you want to make sure that nothing untoward is happening. I havent heard any horror stories though, and am completely happy with the service etc received so far.0 -
My balance transfer went through really quickly, within 2 working days of the account being opened. I received my card last Thursday, but Im still waiting for the pin, although I guess it could be there when I get home today. I just found it odd that a statement has been produced so quickly, Ive never had that before, and I have had a Barclaycard previously too.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Same happened to me, applied for a barclaycard, and before the balance transfer had shown up on my online account I had a statement with a nil balance and nil to pay.0

I just got an instant decision on my credit card application this morning. Transferred £800 from another cc, waiting on my card arriving so I can do 2 other BT of £500 & £850. Hopefully it all gets sorted very quickly. This has been a lifesaver!0

Also, was worried about how long it would take to go through so only transferred £800 out of £950 CC, if I get a statement and a payment date in the next few days i'm going to have to double pay!0

Whenever I activate a new credit card I set the statement date to 'yesterday', ie if calling today 14th November I'd ask for a 13th of the month statement date.
This is particularly useful with many providers, eg MBNA, running their 0% promotions to the date of the, say, 20th statement, and enables the cardholder to enjoy the maximum 0% period.0 -

Oh so can I jsut ask Barclaycard then when I call to activate? Also, if I set the statement date for say 20th, does that mean I have to pay by 20th each month? Thanks0 -

They're normally around 50-56 days, meaning the payment due date is around a week or so before the next statement is produced. So in your case the payment due date would be around the 13th for a 20th of the month statement date. Check your T&Cs to be sure.0 -
Ah thats great thanks. When i call to activate the card i'm just going to set a direct debit up for the start of the month. Hopefully that will be fine.
Jsut want the card to be here so I can get the other transfers sorted. I'm so impatient. haha.
