tesco clubcard exchange big rip off

I was obviously lucky then - I wanted a bike for my 5 year old. I found one reduced from £80 to £60 and so spent £30 on the Exchange. The only other one of that type I could see anywhere else was £90, so as far as I am concerned I got a bargain. Ordered and delivered within 2 days, so couldn't ask for better service. Maybe it is because I did it as soon as the offer started, so no problems with the item being out of stock.Don't Panic - and carry a towel

You were 'lucky' in the way that anyone who happens to need something that is sold by one of the departments involved and is not on the exclusion list is 'lucky'.
The vent of this thread is that Tesco are, for reasons best known to themselves, making it difficult for people to get the advertised double exchange by restricting the range of goods that qualify.
As I said earlier, most people would easily get around the restrictions by finding a friend or family member who wants something that does qualify and getting it for them in exchange for the money.
Thus Tesco aren't really stopping people using the double exchange for whatever they want - merely making it difficult for them. Which does not seem very sensible as the whole point of the double exchange is to attract/keep customers, not to annoy them. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
They do wish to limit what they sell on reduction, so it really does come down to being a first come first served site.
My common notice of all of them is once it's out of stock, there's a high chance of it being out of stock until the voucher exchange ends. So you have to get there quick, and always exchange after you find something, never before.
They are being hammered with atrocious customer services atm and clearly can't handle it all. It just seems as the vouchers come out, especially at the xmas ones, they get worse at it.
Classic just happened to my mother, ordered a chest freezer on the exchange, took over 24 hrs for the vouchers to arrive, well over an hour trying to buy and check out. She was phoned about delivery to be told it was 2 she had ordered. thankfully the manuf realised the problem, and cancelled one, upon delivery, it's not even the right freezer, nothing matches on the site, dimensions, width etc. Farce really.
They really are bad this time. But then, they don't have to offer doubling up.0
