Barbour website warning

Wanted to buy a National Trials Barbour Jacket for my daughter for her birthday.

Trawling through the various websites, I came across one selling the said barbour jacket at £140. (Its on the official website at £300, although other websites were originally selling it for about £150, but say it is out of stock or discontinued.)

Anyway, I sent an email to the one at £140, asking for a telephone number, a registered/head office address, as there were no contact details whatsoever on the website.

Got a reply back, from a Chris Ada just saying you can order on the website, all are genuine blah blah and we will ship the goods to you. Their e-mail address is barboursalesoutlet@gmail.com appear to be in America somewhere??

Checked with Barbour UK and they have said it sounds like a bogus website as they do not trade under that name at all.

Please be careful and don't get carried away, as I nearly did. If I cannot find an address or telephone number, I never, never, order from them.

Kind Regards

Scottish Princess

There is only one genuine Barbour website you should buy from:

    http://www.barbourbymail.co.uk

The only cheap barbours are fake barbours and there are a lot of them around. Buy from the official website where you know for certain you are getting an authentic item.
  • The gmail email account is a big red flag.

  • Thank you for that. I didn't know about the Gmail being a red flag. Will definately look out for that in future. Just wanted to warn everybody else.

    Kind Regards

It might help others that dont research websites like some of us by posting the website address on this thread so google picks it up for those that do search the websites name
  • If you go onto the Barbour website and scroll to the bottom and then choose "Safe Online Shopping", it lists over 100 websites that are currently selling conterfeit barbour jackets, including the one I nearly fell for which was barboursalesoutlet.com!

    Just found this info now.

    Hope this helps!

I think thats a little unfair on the other online stores that also sell Barbour stuff and who may have stuff that Barbour by mail do not have, like little collections like this which after a quick(very quick) search on the barbourbymail website do not seem to sell.

But I do agree that if its a place selling stuff cheap then its more than likely gonna be hooky copies.

  • You can buy genuine barbour from asos and that way get student discount (guessing your daughter might be) if that helps.

T K Maxx occasionally have Barbour in. I got a nice jacket from them a couple of months ago.

Unfair? Perhaps, but to be honest I was much happier buying from the official store than Asos or independent websites etc. Fake Barbour is everywhere at the moment, on a trip into my local town on Saturday I walked past half a dozen women wearing poor copies of my International Jacket. I'd rather be 150% certain that the hundreds I've paid have got me the genuine article and for me that means going direct to manufacturer.
