Picking up some Channels

Options
Hi, We have different Sony TVs in the house. I have no problem picking up RTE1 aand 2 on the smaller one, but the KDL 32s5500 model doesn't pick up these channels, even when I put it in the same room and position as the smaller one. It is picking up other digital channels and rte radio, but Freeview helpline keep saying I should be able to pick them up from a second transmitter, Sony tell me there is nothing wrong with the TV. I need a new aerial, although the same aerial is being used for both tvs.

Id appreciate any suggestions.
2p or not 2p? That is the question!

The KDL 32s5500's tuner is less sensitive than the other set's. They all vary slightly.

The only way to overcome that is to engineer your aerial for the weaker tuner - perhaps an amplified splitter instead of a passive one for example.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks - it might work. What is an amplified splitter and how much would it cost approx?

That doesn't look like a FreeviewHD TV to me.

So you've no chance of picking up the RTE TV channels on it. You'll need a Freeview HD box to plug in, or a FreeviewHD TV.
