Then provide them with the civil docs from 2011 and say you just got married - why did you even send the docs from 2007 if they are not legally binding?

I have to say I can see their scepticism at a wedding process that takes four years to complete.... Surely if this were the case they'd come across it more often and have ways of dealing with what must be a confusing period for many Muslim men where they are embroiled in a 4 year wedding ceremony... (How can it take that long to complete I thought any Muslim man of good standing could perform the ceremony? There must quite a few of them in knocking about...)

Is it the 'norm' for this process to take 4 years????? What box was your other half ticking on forms? And what proof was she using to evidence this?

I can't see how you were ticking 'single', and then suddenly 4 years later 'remembered' you were married. Look at this from SFE's point of view they must come across a lot of people trying to fiddle the system, and changing your marital status 4 years after the marriage ceremony began has rightly set of alarm bells...

The ceremony that took place in the UK has no paperwork, the only paperwork is off the nikkah.

The whole idea was having the nikkah in Pakistan, regretting it now, and walima in the UK. But due to some legal problems and my laziness it dragged on.
Basically I have messed up big time, all these years I was thing I was single in the eyes of British law but when was married.

There are loads of people whos walima ceremony has been held 3, 4 years after the nikkah. I had some quotes from Islamic websites but can't copy and paste Samsung tab won't let me.

The reason why I have know ticked married is due to 1. WArima ceremony taking place, 2. Wife arriving in the UK.

What ever I say I admit I messed up BIG TIME, but I have nit tried to cheat anyone. EVEN IF THEY HAD ASSESSED ME ON MY PARTNERS INCOME I STILL WOULD HAVE GOT A MAXIMUM GRANT ETC. I DID NOT HAVE A REASON TO PURPOSELY LIE.

If it's gone to the SIU, then I don't see the decision being overturned, based on experience.

Yes it has or is being investigated by SIU.
word of advice for all DOUBLE CHECK OR EVEN TRIPLE CHECK WHEN FILLING IN APPLICATIONS, AS EVEN GENUINE MISTAKES CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS. I'M AN EXAMPLE.
WISH ME LUCK AS I WILL NEED IT.:(:(
  • Hi all would just like to update this thread
some of you may remember the problem i faced with student finance.
I have now got my funding reinstated:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
I need to thank my MP as he helped me a lot.
Student finance agreed that i had not purposely given wrong information regarding my marriage status.
For all those facing problems with student finance there is light at the end of the tunnel and also i would like to add their are really helpful people is student finance, believe it or not.
My funding was reinstated within 3 days of the decision being overturned.
Also about the islamic marriages in the uk, a Islamic marriage is only recognized by student finance if it is registered, a unregistered marriage is like a blank piece of paper to student finance.
And one final word thank you very much to the people that gave me hope. :A
