Need to get the missus a new cheapish phone

Hi guys
I have been tasked with getting a new phone for the missus for Xmas !
She currently has a LG Viewty with Tesco (contract has now run out) but she would like an upgrade.
She does not need an all singing dancing phone but would like something with a good camera & to make calls, texts & light email & internet use.
Would prefer to buy the phone & then get a cheapish contract ( no more than £15)
Any advise please ?

Carphone warehouse has a great deal on the Samsung Ace - really nice entry phone for e-mails and internet use, very acceptable camera, easy to use (I'm 57 with no experience of these phones and it was a doddle).
£7.50 a month, inc free phone, calls, texts, and decent data package.
If you go through topcashback, they have an offer at the moment of £55.50 cashback for new pay monthly deals - that's pretty much the first 6 months paid for.

I needed a new phone and came into the 21st century just this week
i read about it on here
all the MSE experts in the field, recommend the
Huawei ascend g300
search the mse forum for it as i cant posts links
briefly: smartphone for under £100. again if you search the mse forum, some kind soul has put up links to the best deal currently available on it
i got mine from sainsburys, and used my nectar points towards it, again got that tip from that thread
(someone who can post links will be along in a minute and post the link i'm sure)
i tell you this forum/website really has saved me money!0 -
How many min. & txt need? Does it need to be on particular network?
The galaxy ACE deal is cheap, but the phone is a bit old...
S3 mini seems good if you don't mind cash back

as she had the Viewty I assume she wants something that looks good.
look into HTC desire / Nokia Lumia 820 / Samsung Galaxy S20 -
Don't get a contract phone.
Buy her a nice phone outright - there are plenty for less than £50. Then go on a Ovivo for free monthly bundles of calls, texts and data.0 -
I would rather get a mobile outright, but they are all over-priced.
For the price of a mobile, you'd be better getting her a top spec tablet instead and some sexy underwear with what's left over0 -

But the Huawei G300 can be had for £66 net from Very (look for the thread Huawei G300 for £65 at Tesco, bizarrely, for full details). get it unlocked for a fiver via ebay code and check out the plethora of SIM only deals. Loads left for some undies then...........

Thanks for your help guys. thinking about it, will proabally get a GIFF GAFF sim (I am already with them) & buythe phone outright.
Apart from above recommendations, any other good phones out there ?0 -
I agree with zzzLazyDaisy. I got a Samsung Ace in January this year for free with an O2 contract. It's worked great for me and will take me through to my next contract comfortably.0
