Old Style Daily Thread Tuesday 13th November 20012

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 13th November 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

just having a quick cuppa before work.

woke up feeling a bit 'off' but am hoping a cuppa and slice of toast revives me:)

  • Good morning everyone :)

Oh it's so dark and chilly these mornings, I am sure I was meant to hibernate.

I am determined to get on with my decluttering after work today so have been reading through the Flylady thread and am going to start in the kitchen with plastic boxes.

Lunch is more left over meat from Sunday. Dinner is lentils, topped with baked fish and pepperonata.

A friend gave me a knitting pattern yesterday to use up odd bits and bobs of wool for a stripey poncho for DGG so am dying to get started on that.

Must dash and get ready for work so will leave behind well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for thise who need or just want them.

    Have a super day :)

    Morning everyone,

Molly nice to hear from you.

Taplady my mum always said that a cup of tea cures everything!

Time good luck with the poncho.

Thanks for all the positive vibes everyone, things are a little better.
Still feeling overwhelmed with workload, 6 meetings at school in 3 days as well as teaching full time.

Tea tonight will be HM chilli and then I am off to my ballet class.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all

  • Good Morning all just watching the sky lightening slightly with a beautiful peachy/grey and pink colour over the River Medway. Its morning like this when I would love to be able to paint what I can see with my eyes iykwim. Hopefully it will be a nice day,or at least a dry one.Its a bit nippy at the moment though, but to be fair it is November :):)
The trees have lost their leaves ,or as my youngest DGS Mikey would say 'They have lost their coats Granny' He is definitely a little boy who says what he sees:):)
The tray bakes and cookies went down a storm with the boys after school yesterday and my eldest DD is at home now from hospital so she was donated the Victoria sponge.Lemon drizzle cake my friend and I had some then she took the rest home as its her favorite and she like a home baked cake.I am going to make a fruit cake this morning as I seem to be bereft of cakes for my own cake tins:):)
Will pop up and see DD this morning after the school run to make sure she doesn't need anything at all.She is behaving and not doing anything as yet as she is obviously still feeling a bit wobbly. She said yesterday that she has decided to let the two youngsters do their own ironing even after she is back on her feet which I am really pleased about as its time they did a bit more to make her life a little less hectic.I know she hates being incapacitated but we have all instilled into her that the more she rests the quicker she will get better.
DGS Danny's 22nd birthday tomorrow and I have got some Euros for him as he is going off to Amsterdam with his pals in a couple of weeks. His other Granny and I decided it was the only thing we could think of as him needing, as he seems to have virtually everything and there are only so many smellies that a young man can have ,and Christmas is on the horizon so he always gets lots at Christmas anyway.
Well time to toddle and make some breakfast and whiz into the shower.
Have a good day everyone and keep wrapped up warm

    Morning all!

Bit less of a cough today which is good. I can tell I am driving people at work crackers with all the cough, cough, coughing.

Found a knitting pattern for a cowl type scarf which only has two rows of pattern - going to have a closer look tonight. It looks pretty but I have only done basic knit or purl and this has ... intentional holes in it!

Found some really cute reindeer fabric yesterday so am planning on making a Christmas apron. Just need to figure out how as I really don't sew. Would love a skirt in the fabric but I think people would see that as a little odd!

    Morning everyone :)

Not quite so chilly here this morning but walking dog in pitch black isn't really much fun :o still it's H's last day at home today til the weekend and walking the dog early leaves more time in the day.
Plans are a mishmash today, didn't pop to town yesterday so need to do that. Got another wall to paint and house needs a good vac and a tidy.
Tea tonight will be spaghetti and turkey meatballs. Aldi have started selling turkey steak and minced turkey so decided to try it.

Nowt else to report, hugs and spoons all round xxx

Molly hope you had a nice break x

Moorhen and Hester hope things calm down at work for both of you xxx

Angel Jenny how is this for a tutorial? Seems simple enough http://www.oneshetwoshe.com/2011/05/how-to-sew-simple-apron-tutorial-she.html

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy but chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and veg, sweet treats from the tins for those that wanted them. Dinner tonight will be pork chops as I remembered to defrost them overnight.

Yesterday, work was busy in the morning then was just steady in the afternoon, today may be a bit slower, but we can never tell!

I will be busy tonight when I get in from work as I need to make the individual pavlovas for this weekend, I need enough for 25 people so will endeavour to get that done tonight and put them in my airtight huge tupperware box, will just then need to buy the cream and fresh fruit on Thursday - we'll be going early Friday morning so I'll need to be ready in good time.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x
