On Three, Probably going to O2 with PAC and Quidco problem?

Hi all.
I'm at the moment on Three with 500 minutes free. I'm a couple of months past my 12 months length hence well out of contract. I phoned last night to ask for my PAC thinking that my 30 days may just end on my next bill date of 14th of May. It may now end on the 15 th, so I hope I don't get billed a full £35 for the monthly rental for only one days use?
I had seen a Motorola PEBL with 11 months free ( or at 99p) on a 12 month contract so I was going to get that with it being almost free with £35 through Quidco for 150 minutes. I didn't order because it said I needed to phone to transfer my phone number.
I phoned today but there stock had ran out ( I've got one in my basket though) and to transfer my number it had to be done over the phone hence no £35 Quidco. Is there any way around this?
So I'm now back to square one. I want to go with O2 because I hope to get an O2 XDA EXEC, hence I should have much less problems using my sim in this phone.
I'm now looking at a blackberry 7100x with 9 months free and £35 through quidco and getting whatever number is provided. This sim/contract should work well with the XDA as it includes a £10 data package although I think this is just for emails rather than internet use.
I may then get a new contract through three to keep my old number which works out at around £4 a month certainly less than £5 although it doesn't include a new phone.
I don't understand the cost or procedure to transfer a number onto a PAYG sim card so what does this cost, will Three be cheaper?
I've probably not been very clear in this post as I'm not very clear on what I want to do! At the moment I'm paying £35 a month to three so I'm 2 or 3 months late in changing and now I'm putting some action in, I want it done yesterday.
Thanks

About 3, if they work it the same as other networks, you'd probably be billed for a month and then get a refund the following month. This is because on the actual day, they don't know when you will actually operate the PAC. Or perhaps if you had used the PAC a few days before, that bill would come with only that day on, I don't know.
If you want to switch 3 to 3 payg, or negotiate a retention offer, then you'd keep the number on there anyway.
As for the O2 deals, you've certainly confused me about what phone you actually want. Is the XDA being given to you secondhand by someone else?0 -
I'm hoping to buy an XDA secondhand, so this is why I was looking at an O2 contract. the blackberry contract sim would appear to work very well in an XDA.
I would like to keep my Three number because its easy to remember being:
07 727 *** 727
It's also where some not essential but very helpful information will be relayed to so it would be nice to keep it. especially if I could do this for a low cost.
Hang on by going to the blackberry contract I'll only lose the £35 quidco fee. Hmmm?
Although at the moment I'm still thinking of having two contracts, the O2 one and also the PAYG or very cheap deal with my Three number.
I don't think that actually clears everything up but it has made some things clearer in my own mind.
Maybe I should just discard the Three number, although I would appreciate the cheapest possible way of transferring this to PAYG?
Thanks

I'm now wondering whether I could use my Three number on a new 12 month contract for around £60 for the year, not including a new phone in an O2 XDA EXEC.
So would the Three sim work in an XDA EXEC or would it not be able to work on 3G hence Three throwing a wobbler and taking some type of action?
Thanks
