Hi Guys, As above my key has stopped working when pressing the buttons to lock/unlock. I have tried two different batteries and also several combinations of turning the key between points 1/2 and entering pairing? mode which works and I can hear beeping but the key doesn`t seem to work even then. Any ideas? Can the casing be changed etc.. then paired rather than going to Ford? Many thanks in advance..

Apparently Ford (the company) should be your last choice as they charge £££
Use google and you will find a car locksmith that will create duplicate keys, and do keycoding. Some even have a mobile van, to connect up to your ecu0 -
When you say you can hear 'beeping', do you mean the car beeps when pressing the button on the key? Does the car unlock when you actually insert the key into the lock?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. My older Ford Mondeo had this problem and I tried everything you have mentioned .
It was cured by disconnecting the car battery for 10 minutes , reconnecting it... then programming the key fob.( a bit like a PC...if in doubt switch off and start again)
I identified my Mondeo keyfob and programming instructions here
www.mirez.co.uk/Keys.htm
You may be able to find similar instructions etc. for your Focus
Make sure you also know your radio code as disconnecting the car battery will mean this code will also be required ( unless you have a plug-in "Memory saver" )0 -
Ignition on and off 4 times within 6 seconds... A tone sounds.
Press a button on the fob another tone sounds. Ignition on and off. DONE.
No 1st tone you mis-timed it.
No 2nd tone.. Check the buttons on the fob they can fail and check the battery connections.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks Guys, when I said beeping I meant tone which I think puts the car into pairing mode, but when pressing any of my 3 buttons none generate another beep which they should to pair. Is my key the issue? Thanks again..0

My Mondeo had this. Sadly, only a General Module replacement cured it.0

Check the battery contacts in the fob and check the microswitches also. A good clean out may work or a button maybe stuck on.
So none of the buttons work.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
When I switch back and forth four times I get the beep, then when I press a button on key I get another beep but it doesn`t do anything to make key work again, any other thoughts?? Thanks..0

When you get the beep from pressing the fob (ony press it once). Turn the ignition on and off to exit the programming mode then wait at least 30 seconds before trying it.
Try it with the fob held down low by the accelerator pedal.
Any difference?
Will it lock properly with the key, Including teh deadlocking?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My mondeo does this now and again. Cured by reaching under the dash and removing the fuse that controls the central locking. Replace the fuse and it all works again. You're actually resetting the system without having to remove the battery. Clean 2 minute job. I think its caused by opening one of the passenger doors manually while in the car and the doors have not been unlocked by remote before entering the car if that makes sense. Whatever. I've had to do it a few times but I can't be bothered chancing being ripped off, or buying new keys that I may not need, to sort the slight inconvenience.0
