Why do sellers hold me to feedback ransom?

As a seller I always leave feedback immediately after receiving payment, buyers prefer it that way and anything that adds to having a happy buyer is worth doing.

I can no longer see any good reason for a seller withholding feedback once they have been paid. I know sellers who do it think they have good reason, they don't:D

Buy from me then - I always leave feedback as soon as I have received cleared payment - I actually state this in my listings, too.

Shall I PM my user id?

    ;)

I used to wait until I had received the buyer's feedback but, as it was pointed out somewhere on this forum all a buyer is obliged to do is pay, and once that's been done then feedback should be left. I changed my ways after reading that!

I do believe it's possible to report users to ebay for feedback extortion - and I would assume saying feedback will be left after feedback has been given is just that - because the implication is that they want to see GOOD feedback before they will leave any, given that buyers are able to leave negative feedback which sellers aren't.

There was one time when a seller posted me the wrong size of a Per Una buy-it-now item which they had a few different sizes for sale and when I contacted her she apologised for her mistake but I said not to worry as I was hoping to lose weight and would keep it and we both agreed that I would not leave feedback rather than leave negative or neutral. I was still given positive feedback, for being OK about it I guess!

ETA: If you sell anything Per Una size 20 then yes, pm me your seller ID ;-)

Feedback is Optional & some sellers have auto feedback that is left upon the buyer leaving it for them

Thanks for that info... it certainly explains why the sellers put in the little notes but I'd rather have the positive feedback for me doing what I am supposed to do within 2 minutes of the auction ending.

Thats all good and well - and bully for you - but some buyers then demand that money back, wear the item and return it - or reverse the payment. Not such a good transaction on the sellers part then , hey?

Its buyers that blackmail sellers over feedback - seeing as they are the only ones with the power to leave negative feedback.

I'm sorry you seem to think I'm doing the wrong thing (with your remark 'bully for you') but after reading all the info that other sellers have left me I can understand the system a little more and will make sure I give prompt feedback.

I'm pleased I give all my old clothes to charity as I would not like to experience what some of you must go through!

I don't leave feedback until buyer has anymore as I am fed up of buyers leaving bad feedback unfairly and without any contact. I believe feedback should be on the overall experience with them , not just payment.

Buyers that make a fair complaint and that I have refunded and i feel have acted non aggressively and reasonable will then get positive feedback.

You can do what you want - feedback is voluntary. I'm just explaining that paying is not always the end of it on the buyers part.

I just cannot understand sellers who boost buyers feedback 'just for paying' - and then find the buyer was a scammer. Then they have the great feedback to say they paid promptly - even though they ended up with the goods AND their money back, or the buyer then trashes their feedback - cos it makes them feel good, or demands a return and returns a diferent item or an empty box. One last week asked where his item was, the day after paying, and then got abusive when i pointed out he chose 2nd class. Does he deserve good feedback cos he paid promptly?

Only when the buyer is happy - is the transaction over.
