My Car insurance it so high as I only passed my test 2 years ago so got hit with a premium.
I don't go out that much, I have a dance class once a week and a slimming class (I can buy 12 weeks for the price of 10 which I intend to do one Thursday!) my dance class costs about £7.00 per week including drinks. As I'm not a huge drinker I tend to drive at weekends anyway.
But saying that I am sure I can cut the £80.00 per month down and will have a go once I'm paid on Friday.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Hmm all these people posted while i was fighting off the people trying to sell me stuff! If you reckon you need about £400 for Insurance then try to save some money between now and June so you don't pay any interest. Then your 63.40 can go on to your snowball. One way of thinking about this is to look at it as a debt because they are charging you interest for your policy.
Don't pay the £15 for the bank. Look on here for where to get your breakdown cover from and you can get it very cheap.
Ask your parents if your mobile phone would be covered on their contents insurance it may well be. If not you should still be able to find cover for it for cheaper. Also use https://www.quidco.co.uk or https://www.rpoints.co.uk for buying your insurance and you will get cashback from them, I got £125 cash back on a £250 policy! If you have a partner it may be cheaper to get insurance with another adult as named driver. I had full NCD 5 yrs ago and DH had 0. When I finally had to get him put on the insurance they cut the cost of my policy- I was well cheesed off. We were paying out more for less.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Hi
I thought I would pop a quick update on this Thread just to say thanks!
It's been a few days since my light blub moment and I think that I am starting to feel a bit better about it all. I did a quick calculation today and I have spend only £4.50 since Monday on things that weren't budgeted for. Which I don't think is to bad, not when you consider I could spend that on one trip to Sainsbury's at lunchtime!
And I haven't been a hermit, I had a dance class on Monday night, someone else drove so I didn't have to pay for petrol, as I dance every week this is budgeted for and I every went out for a drink last night. Ok this was at my boyfriend's Rugby club so the bar prices are really really cheap!
I have my slimming club tomorrow night and I am going to buy some classes in bulk which means I get 2 free!
I have fallen in love with snowballing and I keep putting in different amounts to see what difference it makes and I can actually pay my debt of sooner without having to scrimp as much as I would have done doing it my way! It's all very exciting and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. :T
I've told all of my friends about it and they have promised to not lead me back into bad habit's and will help as much as possible. Although as I'm the only one who is willing to face debt, I may be helping them more in the long run!
I get paid on Friday and I have budgeted really hard and I'm going to really try to stick with it. I can only see one problem ahead. It's my cousins wedding on the 5th and as a bridesmaid I'm a little worried about paying for drinks, but as I can't find a cashpoint near the venue I'm going to have to work out what I want to spend and stick inside that. But any suggestions on how to deal with special occasions would really be appreciated!!
Thanks! :ACurrent debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
hi Lucy 1982, welcome to DFW, when it comes to special occasions such as weddings then I would budget if possible for it and take a set amount of money and leave cards etc at home. I have a wedding to go to on 26th May and so will be doing this. Hope this helps.0

Thanks for that.
It's just the costs on the day now. The wedding present has arrived, my cousin pulled a fast one on all of us and has made us pay for our own bridesmaid dresses. I've paid for all of mine and the alterations (At £220 total!)
Well actually thinking about it, if I drink carefully I only need to make it until the evening do when my boyfriend is turning up, I imagine he'll look after me if needed. I would not drink, but I don't think I'll get away with that one :mad:Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Hi
Just a query on your RAC do you pay £12.92 every month? How much use do you actually get from it. I called them and said i wanted the same price as new members and got homestart for about £35 for the year. There are other ways of saving on RAC but as you can see that would be a massive saving for you.0
