    My local council are an extreme example (I hope), so yours shouldn't be so bad, but I would get surprise visits from them approx every six months.

    They would literally hammer on the door until I answered (even though they had been advised that I was suffering from agoraphobia at the time!), and just invite themselves in. Then they would ask for bank statements, and though they wouldn't ask to look around as such, it was quite clear that they were looking for clues of income, someone else living there etc.

    Absolutely did my head in, and at the moment I am going through a formal complaint against them (more to do with council tax this time though). The worst thing was, my neighbour was playing the system and fraudulently claiming every benefit going, yet they never got checked up on (because they were always out at work ... cash in hand, of course)! x
    Gone ... or have I?
