so your neighbour shouldnt be able extend his house because it causes you a bit of inconveience hey. sure if the boot was on the other foot you'd feel that this was a terrible injustice and an infringement on your human rights. its a single storey extension which with a good builder should be completed in a few weeks. once its done its done and you wont have this hanging over you anymore. Maybe he'll appeal and win and will be able to do it anyway then.

Do you work shifts? Have you had to cope with noise for weeks on end? Have little to no sleep? No one is interested in doing anything about it (not the person making the noise, police, etc).

An inconvenience? Not only is it tiring, but unhealthy, causes problems with the ability to sleep (which might not sound much, but long-term, even when the noise has stopped, it's can be very difficult to adjust back), etc. It's more than an "inconvenience". Shoe on the other foot - I do my very best to be considerate of my neighbours (even if some of them don't do the same).

(And as muddyl mentioned the planned extensions could go on for longer than a couple of weeks, it's more than you think.)
