Tesco sell a Value SCART cable for £1.91, a price that is not going to break the bank!
Beware of cut-price SCART cables - not all of them are fully wired. What this means is, to keep the price down, the cable may have been wired up using the bare minumum number of wires to get a picture and sound. In this case, you will not be getting the best possible picture and other features like smartLink etc. are unlikely to work either. Also, the cable will probably have the thinest wire possible. Just right for cable breaks and signal degradation.
Not saying that the Tesco one falls into this category (I haven't seen it) but you do need to be aware of how SCART leads can be made cheaper by cutting corners.0 -
Popped in Cash Generator today and they had lots of Digifusion freeview boxes for £14.99, and some reconditioned models of various makes for £12.99. They are basic models, not recorders or anything, but cheap enough, got one for my sons bedroom.
edited to correct store nameI'm an MSE winner!

Not sure if it's been mentioned before but Sainsbury's were doing the Alba STB8 Freeview STB for £17.99 (shelf label states "10% off normal £19.99 price") when I was in my local branch today.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just wanted to let everybody know about my experience with the Digihome dv940b2. Its in Argos for £19.99 and its RUBBISH!!!! It wouldn't pick up all of the channels and everything was fuzzy. We phoned Argos customer helpline and they told us they had had loads of negative feedback from people and their advice was to take it back! Apparantly the receiver is a waste of time and thats why it doesn't pick up any channels. Spend an extra fiver and get this instead!:j30/7/10:j

Do you have to use a scart to connect the box to the tv - we have a very old tv in spare bedroom without a scart connection onthe back
For non scart Tvs you need a DTV box with an RF modulator which produces a signal you can tune the telly to via the aerial. Like a VCR is tuned.
You'll need to pay a bit more for such a box say £20-30 or so more and they are less commons Or use an existing VCR as they have modulaors built in. So set box to VCR via scart then tune the VCR to TV via aerial.
