  • I picked up the Ferguson FPVR1T 80GB HDD Recorder with Freeview from Morgan Computers in Manchester today, I expected it to be £58 inc vat, but they've reduced the price to £46.99 inc VAT. Seems perfect so far, card slot for Setanta Sports, recording seems to work well too, signal reception better than my old Phillips box. It comes with a 6 month warranty too! Bargain!
'Lose' - as in "I hate to lose" only has one 'o'.
'Loose' - as in 'Loose change' is not the same word!

I am wanting a PVR and looked at the info re freeview playback posted above-

Why is this worth waiting for? what will it do that say the Humax PVR won't do at the moment?

Also interestingly the topfiled and humax, both of which usually get top ratings, didn't rate as well as the grundig PVR on that website - anyone any experiences?
Treat everyday as your last one on earth, and one day you will be right!
  • I bought the Digifusion FVRT200. 1st one wiped off my recordings, 2nd seems OK Sometimes there is a lack of synchronisation, to get round this put the program in reverse for a second or two and it corrects itself. Good box, records two programs and you can watch a library one at the same time. I've wired mine so I can record two channels on digibox, one on the video and watch one on TV. All I need is the time to watch them all. Happy hunting.

Never mind Freeview boxes, it is now possible to get a Freeview 19" widescreen TV for sub £150

With monitors now sub £100, but without AV connections like SCART etc, you can get a sub £50 Freeview box with Monitor VGA outputs.

    Cheers

Hi Alan, its an interesting idea, but the link you have given is for an analogue tuner. They appear to have a digital one for £70-ish (+vat maybe?) but it was out of stock when I checked.

    Cheers

Yup, here's the digital one; 84.48 inc Vat when they have them.

currently £13.33 from Warehouse Deals UK (via Amazon)

I got mine for (got points on mutual points cashback site also). £9.99 + £4 for P&P = £14.44

really good picture - I have terrible reception where I live and it's better than the normal tv image I had before. comes with scart lead, remote, batteries, instructions... It's a refurbishment which some people don't like but I've never had any problems with this.. my PC is a refurbishment from PC world for £200! my last refurbished PC cost £400 same place and lasted 4.5 years with no problems!

I get to watch Nip/Tuck (hoorah!) and scrubs which you don't see on terrestrial tv!
Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D

For what it's worth: SCART cables used to always come with set-top-boxes (or at least nearly always) but these days, especially with the £20 Freeview boxes at supermarkets they usually don't. Unless you're replacing a set-top, you need to budget for the cable too! I guess it's one way of keeping the price of the box low! ;) It's only a matter of time before they don't include batteries... ;)

Tesco sell a Value SCART cable for £1.91, a price that is not going to break the bank!
