Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 12th Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Yesterday's buffet descended into chaos when one of the foster children was arrested! Everyone ended up taking a doggy bag home so the food wasn't wasted. It was good up until then.
DW is on, washing on the line, been there since yesterday as I forgot to bring it in. No packup for hubby today, he is taking his Mum out for lunch & I shall take leftovers for my lunch. I best go feed the fish, they are lined up against the glass, looking accusingly at me.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Good morning everyone :)

Brrrr it's a chilly one here.

Gosh Hester, am sorry to hear about the chaos at the buffet but more so about the arrest.

We are on leftover meat from last night's dinner for lunches today, then left over potates will form part of tonight's dinner. Am thinking chicken and potato curry and chappattis.

Am sitting here drying after my shower and wondering what I am going to do with my newly shorn hair for work. I think it's going to involve a lot of clips! Oh well, at least it grows back quickly .... I hope :o

Better get moving so will send well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Have a super day all :)

  • brr its blooming chilly today and black as your hat outside.I will dig out my scarf and gloves to wear when I go to do the school run with the boys today. My oldest friend is coming to lunch today and we are going to see Shelley this morning first .She was Shelley and Tessa's childminder back in the 1970s when we lived in the same road and I was dreadfully broke as the mortgage rate had whizzed up to 15%.Consequently I had to go back to work to help out the finances having just bought our 'money-pit-of-a-falling-down house' :):) as my OH used to call it.
I made a victoria sponge and some smashing choc chip cookies yesterday also a lemon sponge tray bake so will take some for DD and the rest will go to the boys this afternoon after school.Right time to get a wriggle on so much to do this morning before I even go out of the door at 8.00 Quick whoosh round with the hoover and tidy up from the weekend a bite of breakfast and a shower and then off to sort the little boys out and take the youngest to school.I think I shall meet myself coming back this morning :):)
Have a good day everyone and if poorly or down <<hugs>> and wrap up warm if your going out winter is definitely here now and we don't want any coughs or colds do we :):)

Morning everyone, It is also chilly here.Hester, sorry to hear that, about the buffet and the incident with the foster child :(. Jackie O, can I have some of your get up and go as mine has got up and gone :rotfl:
I slept alot better last night but definitely feel far from right.Life is so stressful and things catch up with us without us realising. Funny time of the year for a lot of us.
I still need to catch up with some work but will probably end up reading a book or browsing some local charity shops today, in between the necessary chores. I hope everyone has a good day and stays warm and happy. xxx

HH - sorry to hear of the buffet incident, hope everything is ok.

Not sure what the weather is doing yet, haven't opened the blinds, in fact only put the laptop on to pay my credit card but got waylaid!!

Cooked the monster gammon joint yesterday and it was yummy, friends came to help us put a dent in it but we will be eating it for ever. It is all portioned and in the freezer.

Work today and then again tonight so better get on. Hope you feel better Elaine. Take care. XX

Morning all - struggling today. 2 hours sleep and out of painkillers - not my finest moment. I'd love to go back to bed but I'll be okay once I get going; will have a piping hot shower soon. Working (covering two jobs for two days), meeting HR to discuss increasing to 4.5 days next week, then trekking up to Harley Street to have a bloodtest. Lasagne from the freezer tonight. DH cut my hair yesterday, saving me £35 and getting rid of the rat-tails which have grown since May.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all!

Work day today ... the weekends go so fast!

So dark when I woke up this morning. I really thought I had set my alarm incorrectly but sadly it was right!

Going to spend the evening planning. I am a big list writer and I just need to figure out exactly what needs to be done for Christmas and all the details I need then I can get started. And hopefully catch up!!

So tired all the time - I don't think it helps that it is dark as I leave the house and dark when I return! No proper daylight apart from my lunch break.

Morning all, wet and dark here too, feel exhausted despite a weekend off, think it must be the time of year. Dog rolled in something on his walk this morning so is now banished to his bed. DD might bath him later. Off to school , though I'd rather go back to bed. Sorry about your buffet being ruined HH and hugs to all in need. Have a good day all :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud but chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.

HH - must have been some strange vibes going around yesterday - our day had a tragic turn of events too.

The food out at our lunch was absolutely delicious but unfortunately there was a Police incident at the hotel/restaurant as we were finishing our meal and we ended up stranded in the hotel for 5 hours, as our car was behind the police tape and couldn't be moved. Hotel staff were really good and did the best they could under the circumstances, have never been around anything like that happening before, at one point there were 8 Police vehicles (including armed response), 1 paramedic, 1 land ambulance and the Helimed Air Ambulance helicopter which attended and landed on the grass garden of the hotel - just such a tragic situation - all those in attendance did their best, but they weren't able get a postive result.

Will be expecting a manic Monday - we'll see.

Dinner tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, mash and peas.

Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Grey here this morning, but I have to take some library books back and pay a bill at the bank.
Went to the garden centre yesterday, it was lovely and I got MIL's present, just waiting for the Amazon order and then I am finished, that will be paid as soon as it gets here so I can now relax, just a few bottles of booze and some fresh stuff Christmas week to get .

Fuming at the school behind us the football carried on through the 2 minutes silence what a disgrace, they did the same thing last year :mad::mad: Plus I had bottles thrown over the fence :mad::mad: DH is going round to complain when he gets home.

nmlc How awful ! Sadly this country is getting worse

    Moorhen positive vibes hun ((((Hugs))))

Hester sorry the buffet went pear shaped, I hope things get sorted ((((Hugs))))

DS has just left for college, he is happy his bursary came through at the weekend, I just hope that he doesn't spend it all at once.

Well I had better get showered animated-smileys-housekeeping-091.gif BFN x
