Freedom 2 Surf cheapest broadband?

No-one has ever mentioned Freedom 2 Surf as one of the cheapest broadband providers. I have been with them for about 3 years and I have to say they have been excellent. There has never been any down time, there was no delay in initial connection and there billing, enquiries and technical service is always efficient.
I am on what's known as Cascade Lite which includes free setup, 5GB monthly usage, 8mbit speed (mine is MAX speed) 20, 200mb of e-mail addresses and 200mb of web space. There are 4 packages to choose from. The cheapest being just £13.99 pm. The one I am on is only £14.99 pm.
Here's the web address for more info

The other thing that I find interesting is that I have been tempted to change providers to Talk Talk because it would include my phone as well but when I contacted them, they tell me that I cannot get free broadband in my area? This is also true of Orange and Sky. My wife has an orange phone and we also subscribe to Sky. I find it quite hilarious that they advertise that broadband is totally free but when you actually enquire they say that my area is not and I have to pay more than I am paying with Freedom2 Surf???
Any theories as to why?? Especially as my exchange supports maximum download speeds!

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. I too was with them for years but only had problems after problems.
And after the Pipex takeover - it went worse.
Just have a look at this forum and decide for yourselves.

It depends if they have installed their own equipment in your local exchange. Check your own exchange details here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Try Force9. They are now offering a fully featured up to 8Meg broadband service for £9.99/month. There is no connection or hardware cost. You even get webspace and email for that. The dowload limit if 1Gb, which is plenty if you use Broadband like you used dial up. And if you reach that unlike some companys they won't cut you off. You either pay for more bandwidth or they throttle your speed down. If your a heavy user you pay £14.99 and get a massive 8Gb. Only heavy online gamers and people working from home all the time would need more.0

As for why you can't get Talk Talk. Not that they are any good! They are a LLU. Try SamKnows.com which will tell you which providers are at your exchange. It's also useful for finding out what speeds you might get or your neighbours (if you know their number) actually do get.0

I appreciate that others may have experienced problems with F2S, but overall, I am pleased with their service - which I have had for 2 years. I'm a monthly contract customer, because I didn't want to be tied in with a company for 1 year, but I have not had cause to go elsewhere (yet).
What I would say is, I would not pay for their email services - I would choose to go somewhere else for a paid email account (i.e. a business email account). Neverthless, their free email service (which comes with their broadband service) is reasonably adequate with up to 20 individual email addresses - all IMAP accounts - which allows you to control each one with a separate password and delete/add to as you see fit.
Just for the record, I am aware of what bad service looks like... I was an NTL customer for several years!"He who asks questions cannot avoid the answers"0
