  • Ohhhhhh, I've hit a problem with using cash!:o

I stick various coins in tins (all £2, 50p and 20p and the odd £1 if I have loads) ...... so - if I get these as change what do I do?

Do I count them as a spend & put them straight into their pot or do I leave them in my purse until the end of the week (having a bit of an  at the thought of a £2 lying in my purse .......) and then put them in the pot ..... (but what would happen if I overspend as I'd not have put them away).

Any coin savers here with advice?:o Thanks:cool:

i tend to have £10 in my purse that i use as emergencies, milk, dire need of petrol etc, anything past £10 gets put into the savings pots. (i only started pot system a month ago). i top it up when spent and top up my pots with my left over change if i dont spend.

seeing as you only have your od to think of and not debt repayment it doesnt matter if you keep your cold hard cash out of the bank.

  • Couple more bits to add:
    • Magazines £1.90
    • Choc chip cookies £1.25
    • Lucky dip for lottery £2
TBH I don't usually buy stuff like this but being stuck in the house all the time I'm struggling a bit & can't concentrate long enough to read books which is why I bought the mags (at least they were a deal for 3 so they should keep me going for a while!):o.

Cookies, well I like them and they spoke to me when I walked past them;)

So total for week is £11.05 / £20

I have quite a lot of change so have decided that anything that can go in coin jars each week will do so!

It seems (to me anyway;)) to make more sense to do this rather than paying any underspend to the OD as I'd just need to withdraw it again for next week!

It'll also help the coin jars build quicker which I need - especially the bus fare one as it could be needed at any time:eek:

    So ..... £2 x 1, £1 x 5, 50p x 2, 20p x 2 = £8.40 to the coin jars ;) and a few odd pennies left in my purse.:D

Can I try for £15 next week please :)
