HSBC called me a few minutes ago demanding payment for my credit card! I have never missed a payment on this card however I do always make a minimum payment. The money due date isn't for a few weeks and they were asking me if I'd like to pay the minimum right away from my current account.
Is there anything they can do as I can't see I'm breaking any contract with them as I always pay the minimum payment on time?
I ended up saying ill call them tomorrow just to get them off the phone.
Thanks
Danny

Sounds very suspicious to me,
Did they leave a number or did you a 1471
If they ring again, ask them for the details they have for yuo.
I bet they put the phone down on you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hi,
I dont think it was suspicious as they knew exactly how much was in my current account to the pence and also my home and mobile number which they read back to me???

Weird...
I fail to see why they would be calling you for the minimum payment if that's what you usually pay!?DEBT FREE AND PROUD

The day to be credited by is the 3rd of December!
Can anyone give me any tips as to what to say to them on the phone tomorrow short of asking why they are demanding payment now more than 3 weeks before the due date?0 -
could you be over the limit?
I work in the collections department of a credit card company and I spoke to one customer who was upset that we called her before the minimum payment was due, we called her 'early' because she was over the limit, but she would not let me explain because she complained that this was the 2nd time in two months that we called her 'early'DEBTFREE AND PROUD!!0 -
Are you sure you paid last months payment?DEBT FREE AND PROUD

If they're asking for a payment now, it sounds as though you are over your limit. They wouldn't call otherwise.0

Yes im 100% I paid lasts months payment.
Ive had a look and the card is over limit can they still demand payment immediately?
Thanks for your help0 -
If you're over the limit you may well have breached your contractual agreement so i would imagine they are within their rights to demand immediately the amount you are over by.
