hey all can anyone tell me which ones are best scent wise. I love candles but the way they smell in the jar NEVER comes out that way. i really want a nice candle that leaves the room smelling lush :) please help :) Ive heard the wax tarts are better scent wise? xx

I have recently found the tarts after being disappointed for so long with candles.
I love them they last for ages and the scent fills the house rather than just the room :D
  • I remember in one thread people saying they made their walls black. If the wick isnt trimmed enough they do this so you should trim before each use. Sometimes I havent and although I hadnt noticed on my walls, I realised when I cleaned my tv glass and windows they were black! Still wont stop me using them though as I enjoy the smell and cosy atmosphere they make. They dont burn right to the bottom so with the centimetre or so of wax that is left, I stick them in the freezer a while to make it easier to get it out then I break the wax up into chunks and use it same as tarts in a burner. You get strong scent off it that way and no wastage ;)

I depends what kind of fragrance you like. I burn a large jar in my hall away from any walls as I have had a problem with sooting from them. I put a shade on top of it which helps. I also burn the wax tarts in my living room and bathroom. I love the festive ones although I can't burn any that smell of berry (usually the red coloured ones) as MrM claims they give him a headache. The only one that I've not liked is the Tahitian Tiare Flower and I'm not sure they make that any more. The only one that smelt horrible and not like it should was the Cafe au lait which smelt of chinese curry. Again, I think this is discontinued.

If you want something that smells fresh clean cotton is nice. Of the flowery ones I like Cherry Blossom and mrM's favourite is Sandalwood Vanilla.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • Creamy caramel also reeks of curry! I burnt it for a few hours and DH came home asking if I'd had curry for dinner and we could still smell it days later. I bought the new honey and spice as from the glass it smells of the Glade honey and chocolate which I love but it isnt very strong when burning.
  • I love Yankee candles, especially the 'baby powder' or the 'clean cotton' candles. But I feel soo bad buying them as I can never justify spending this amount of money on a candle :(

I love Yankee candles. Burning Pink Blush at the moment, it's rather lovely. Can't find Wedding Day anywhere though, anyone know if they've discontinued it?

ETA: ignore me, found it on the Debs website! It wasn't there when I looked a few weeks ago..
    Slummy mummy!
