It's a bit concerning that someone thought it necessary to put these adverts on. But perhaps they should make their way across the puddle in case your woman sees them and learns something!

Maybe the adverts are aimed at learners. When I was over there, there was a shortage of driving test examiners so a blind eye was turned to learners driving unsupervised.

I see muppets all the time. When someone is too close I used to get angry and slam brakes on. It makes them worse and is dangerous to yourself. Now I try and calmly look in my mirror and catch their eye. 9 times out of ten they seem to back off.

Another thing I find nowadays is people not bothering to indicate. I saw a guy in a van recently drinking a mug of coffee. I have seen someone smoking and on phone at same time. I even saw a lorry driver scanning an A4 sheet of paper over his steering wheel. If they are a company I usually report them via email which is usually taken seriously. Of course if it's just human error, a mistake I let it go as we are all human.

The real thing I have noticed is the alarming amount of HGV drivers who are very aggressive. I have used motorways for over 20 years and now I dread taking them because I know what to expect. I would say of late I have had one incident every journey with a HGV who drives aggressively. Earlier this Year one did this to me on the M6 and cut in front of me with no indication. Further down the road I spotted bits of tyre all over the motorway. I later saw the very HGV on the hard shoulder with a blown out tyre. I still reported him and got a reply. Again, the other week the same again on the M56. Tailgates, overtook us and cut in front with no indication. Reported and the managing director emailed me to say he is at least being made to take a safe driving course. If it stops them killing someone else it's worth it.

If you can get the number, especially if a company vehicle always always report them.

Definitely needed over here for some people... I remember there being ones in the 70s when mini-roundabouts came in; one about braking smoothly - drive like a professional" and every so often Think Bike!

What do we think thye should cover then? My topics are:

    1) Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre means - look for a gap, wait for it, signal then move into the gap. Not signal and lurch into the next lane immediately.

    2) The end of a slip road is a Give Way.

    3) When passing a stopped bus, parked white van or other obstruction; you don't magically have the right to drive down the other side of the road at oncoming traffic.
I need to think of something new here...

Not warning adverts about drink driving, or texting while driving, just on how to drive. The one I saw yesterday was explaining the correct way to make a right hand turn, and I've seen another about how to use a roundabout, and another showing when not to overtake someone.

It's a bit concerning that someone thought it necessary to put these adverts on. But perhaps they should make their way across the puddle in case your woman sees them and learns something!

I agree with the other poster, this seems like a good idea. More and more I notice people who either don't signal or worse, signal wrongly at traffic islands so there is clearly a need for more eductation on this.

Glad the OP was okay and hopefully you feel a bit better now.

And don't get me started on people who are going straight on at a roundabout but for some reason think signaling right is a good idea. Oh and those idiot smokers (usually blokes) who hang their arm out of the window with lit fag because they don't want the smoke in their car. WELL NEITHER DO I EITHER you gormless prat. The times I have had to wind my window up in summer and turn off my air intake fan. If you don't like the smell YOU DON'T HAVE TO SMOKE !!!

    Feel better now ;-)

Can i tell you something? I have driven for 30 years and i also have a motorbike licence. I have never had a blameworthy bump. Every day at work i drive a van in all weathers and at all hours. I operate in a state of zen where other peoples motoring incompetence, uncertainties and indiscretions are just dealt with and do not register otherwise. I drive over 10,000 miles pa at work alone discounting private mileage.

My company vehicle has a sophisticated on board tracker with monitored data stream.

I have my own onboard continuous record video camera for my own security and defence.

I cannot allow stress and anxiety to affect me.

    Others have bumped me.

My last claim from another motorist was circa £7000 for whiplash injury.

That is the name of the game. Be the hunter, not the hunted.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

They're not doing it because they don't like the smell of smoke- they're doing it because they don't want ash in their car!

Definitely, that last one is just scary (came from a little country town in Hampshire where people used to overtake tractors on blind bends ). A few extra that Ireland seem to have missed off the ads - and make my walk to work through the centre of Dublin a little fraught!

    1) Amber means slow down
    2) Red means stop (just this morning saw 3 cars run lights on separate occasions)
    3) No left turn means that... The road might be free of vehicles but little ol' me might be trying to cross! :(

What speed are you driving down the motorway if you're having such problems with tailgating, and even HGVs pulling in front of you.

Is the problem that you're driving too slow?

On a serious question how many times have you had to do this? I don't like smoking myself but I drive a lot and I can't remember ever having this problem with a guy smoking in a different car?
