    To be an Electronics Engineer,
To be a sales assistant in Currys/PC world
OP does that answer your question?

It's indefensible that staff should give inaccurate information however...

If you want that Sales Advisor to be as knowledgeable as the Electronics Engineer then that person needs to be paid the same. I should imagine the Electronics Engineer earns double the Sales Advisor. That means a higher price at the till or fewer staff to go round.

Ultimately the public generally is not prepared to pay higher prices. A lot of stores like Jessops are now showrooms for Amazon. Customers go in, handle the stock, ask the questions and then go off and order from Amazon. Most of the public will always choose a lower price over a higher price and better service.

As I said giving incorrect or misleading information is wrong but if you are a Techie reading this. Would you be prepared to work for just above minimum wage in one of these stores? If not then you probably can't expect to be served by someone who can match you point for point on tech knowledge.

  • I actually did used to work for one of these stores. I heard some terrible lies but a fair number of the staff believed it cuz the manager had told them. Or another member of staff who though they knew what they where talking about but was just a blagger told them
