Sky Broadband Problem

Hi
I wonder if anyone can advise me on this
I have recently changed broadband from orange to sky. I set up the sky for the first time last week but it doesnt work, the internet light doesnt appear on the box. I have phoned technical support at least 8 times, been through all the troubleshooting, and they are now saying its a problem with the exchange that bt have to sort out, phone back in 2 days etc etc
Has anyone else had a similar experience with sky broadband and any ideas how it might be resolved?

Have Sky told you that you've been activated?
If they say it has and there is no internet light then there is no broadband on the line.
What happens if you plug your old Orange modem in?
What lights do you get when you power up the Sky router?
I'm assuming you have connected it up correctly, filters on all your phone points, sky box etc.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

yes its all set up properly and the activation date was last week. all the correct lights are on except for the internet light. the orange broadband has been cancelled so havent tried the box? i get the feeling sky are fobbing me off everytime i ring, by telling me to phone back later!0 -
Sounds like a tie pair problem. You could use the BT order tracker to see if there is anything outstanding on your line

its just the basic package. Thanks for that website, I checked and it doesnt identify any problems. So i guess it will be yet another call to sky technical support tonight!0

Sky broadband is total !!!!.
I had exactly same issue. Intially I had Sagem modem. It sometimes worked often didn't. After lots of complains to Sky, they finally replaced the modem with a Netgear one. Touch wood, it is working after that.
Once my contract ends, I'm going to quit Sky. Their customer service is awful. I sent them a letter of complaint 2 months back, never got a reply.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
