Maxi ISA providers

Hi all

Having always used minis in the past I'm considering going for a maxi ISA in this new tax year, but am feeling a bit starved of information sources. Does anyone know where I can find

i) A list of maxi ISA providers
ii) A comparison engine or table for maxi ISAs (at least so that I can instantly see how the providers' interest rates stack up against each other for the cash portion)

??

Thanks

    Hi there,

The FSA has some comparative tables for unit trust ISA providers -

Or do you mean providers of the ISA wrapper? Like brokers and IFAs?

You should be aware that with a MAXI, you wouldnt be looking at interest rates. You would be looking at yields, volatility, asset allocation, fund manager stability, charges etc.

The only time you would be looking at interest rates is when you are using a MAXI provider to hold the cash and the equity content and there are not too many of those around.

I seem to recall there is around 200 Maxi ISA providers (open for business). I hope you dont mind me not listing them.

Of 475 authorised ISA managers (I counted them - well my spreadsheet did!), 385 are authorised to provide Stocks & Shares ISAs. Most of these providing Stocks & Shares will be selling Maxi ISAs.

No, I'm looking at all of the above: yields, volatility, etc. etc. for the equity portion and interest rates for the cash portion. I've had plenty of practice picking funds (within stocks & shares mini-ISAs); my question is about interest rates on the CASH PORTION of a maxi ISA.

Hence my question about information sources! Say I want the freedom in 2005/6 to invest more than £4,000 in equities within an ISA wrapper but still balance that with some tax-exempt cash savings. If that's what I want then I need a maxi ISA -- but not one offering a feeble interest rate on the cash element.

Nope, don't mind at all. But maybe you could list those providers who can hold both the equity and the cash elements, if, as you say, they are so few in number.

23 (products) of those that came up in a quick check.

    Alliance Trust
    Britannic
    CIS
    Credit Suisse
    Fidelity
    Gartmore
    HSBC
    Jupiter
    L&G
    M&G
    M&S

There are not 23 providers listed as some of the providers had multiple offerings.
