Meaningless email from Scottish Power

I am on dual fuel with SP and have just been requested to provide meter readings which I have done

I then noticed a new option on their website "receive an emailed consumption reading / click here" which I did and checked my email - to read an email as follows :

"Your gas consumption is 5513 kWh.Your electricity consumption is 1759 kWh."

Is this Per Day, Per Week, Per Month or Per Annum ?
Totally meaningless .......

Surely it is from the date of the last reading? Seems obvious to me ...

    No it's not
Since the last reading - we have not used 5513kwh of gas - we have used 880kwh

    Hi,

maybe annual consumption year on year?

Nope - we used 3869kWh gas in the last 12 months
I have emailed SP to ask exactly what it means - because as far as I can make out - it is random and meaningless !!
  • Hi,

    awe well, maybe forecast usage?

    - go on to your online account
    - ask them for a ringback, they do ring you back at their expense
    - ask them what your [Calculated Annual Consumption] CAC figures for the year is

They have that CAC on their screen, its generally not given out unless asked for, so ask for it. The trick, and there is one, is to read the meters and submit them monthly. Be ready with paper and pencil the CAC is their BOT's accounting guess taking into account weather etc in your region for a whole year, it predicts your usage at your tariff price.

How does the CAC compare to :

    """ - gas consumption is 5513 kWh""
    """ - electricity consumption is 1759 kWh""" ?

NOTE : If you don't want to speak on the phone, email the Scottish Power rep and ask him/her the same question

    Best of luck 21Twinkle.

I'd guess the gas reading is probably 880 cubic meters, which convert to 5513kWh.

The usage will be from the previous meter reading, unless it states otherwise.
