How to cancel Tesco broadband

Hello,
moved from sky to tesco last month. To our disappointment the broadband is terribly slow and drops way too often that we want to leave. I seem to remember somewhere that you can leave telco/break contract in the first 3 months without penalty. Is this correct? If so how do we go about it? Do we just apply with another provider and ask to transfer number? I know with sky we didnt have to call them. We just contacted telco and they did everything.
I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing as I dont want to end up paying hefty penalties.
Thinking of joining EE (have T- mobile phone contract). what do people think of it?
any other suggestions, recommendations welcome.
post code LS15 area if this is of any help.
Thnks in advance.

If you have a line fault then changing ISPs will make no difference.
What service are you paying for from Tesco?
Can you post your router line statistics.

I think problem is tesco speeds coz I even did speed test and it is poor. There was no problem until we changed less than a month ago. It has never been fast from day 1.
I cant get my router details. I tried link you gave but keep getting error messages
It is a Thompson router. I tried to use username :Administrator and serial No as password (even left it blank) to no avail.0 -

Run you speed test by ethernet from the master socket. Not by wireless or from an extension socket.
Do you have known good filters on all active extensions? No free lunch, and no free laptop
