Can I please get one thing cleared up in my own mind please?

If I go food shopping and put in biscuits, crisps etc does this come out of MY £10 budget or does this come out of the food budget. Also bought beer and wine in food shop and clothes for DD, does this count as an overspend? I did however transfer the cost of the clothes and alcohol from my spending account, but does this come out of MY £10 weekly spend? (although ONLY the wine was for ME) - If the answer to any of my questions is YES then I have a massive OVERSPEND

The way I work my grocery budget is everything comes out of it :rotfl: Seriously I don't have a seperate clothes budget for any of us (I will be sorting that out) so any clothes re kids comes out of shopping budget but anything over £20 I try and add out of my money. Wine (every now and then), crisps (big bag lasts approx 2wks) , cakes (although I HM now) and treats come out of it as well. My clothes come out of my money, DH clothes grocery and his money.

There you go clear as mud :rotfl: I'm treating my £10 for things like mags, chocolate, ebay, craft bits, basically anything unnecessary :D

    Hello
I'm just trying to sort out my budget so I'd like to join this challenge. I'm so close to debt free, but I seem to have slowed right down on paying it off. Some how my overdraft, the only debt left, doesn't seem like a 'real debt' for some reason. Maybe because I've lived with an overdraft for almost 15 years, since I started University.
Anyway I'm off to download the MSE spreadsheet and I'm going to work it all out. £10 cash for unnecessary bits and bobs seems like a great plan. I've not read through the whole thread, but I'm sure I've got the idea.

If no, but maybe the wine does as it was for ME and ME alone then I spent £4.48 of my £10 weekly spend (although didn't have any this week as don't get paid until tomorrow so effectively this is an OVERSPEND:mad:

    Oh crikey! :o

    Its a tough one....
I'd say if you had budgetted in your grocey shop to buy those things, then its ok.........

However if you'd just deviated from your list and budget then no....

    Does that seem fair?!
Although must confess biscuits and crisps are not necessary to survive but mentally and emotionally I can see their benefit :rotfl:
I wish I had some biscuits...

Thanks for all the messages r.e the BF.
Yes ZTD he is being a sackless one yet again but this time I'm not taking any excuses.
Told him I dont want to see him for a little while so that he can think about what he's done/not done...
See all this whip cracking carries over to "real"life for me!!

    Hi,

Hope every1's having a great Sunday with minimum spends.

I'm ready for the new budget to kick in tomorrow - have detailed the breakdown of the notes/coins I need to get from the bank when I go in and stuck it on the inside of my money diary so that I can sort it into the appropriate envelope the minute I get home before any goes astray!!

I have gone over by 18 pounds but feel terrible and will not go over at all this week.

I have definitely spent less than I would have done if it wasn't for this challenge.

    Thx guys x

Well it'll soon be a brand new week and the mistakes of the previous are forgiven..........

I don't want anyone to feel like if they have gone over they should then really limit themselves the next week, and I think emotionally this is likely to lead to an even bigger blowout the third week!

So anyone who has gone over, dont feel too bad, just learn from it.
It may you need to re-jigg your budgets to account for some un-planned spending, like a gift etc. Or it may be an emotional thing, maybe a rough ride lead you to a multipack of crisps or a chav mag lol.....

    Work was hot!

No air con in our shop and its south east facing, full window frontage....
    So gets lots of sun.
Had fun creating a new window display. Something I really enjoy doing, merchandising...
Was quiet people wise though, not as much money as Id like in the till but such is. I wouldnt go shopping on a day like today either!

Although good news is that BF should be getting paid for some private work he's done so he's going to bring me what he owes me. Which will help.

Realised I've had another tough month. I'm convinced it was that week off you know!!!
