Well - I have come back from the shops with my £4.63 still in tact:T I was going to spend some of it in the charity shops & then remebered - if it is for clothes I got a new month's clothes budget to spend!!! :j :j
I only allow £30 per month now - pre MSE £30 was something I would spend on clothing without even noticing:eek: In fact - I have not bought any clothes since before Christmas (except for the 2 pairs of shoes at Easter - £38.98) & started thinking that I should have all that clothes money left - but for some strange reason it is not there!!
Anyway - I am wittering!!
I spent spent £12.83 & have 3 tops - 1 M&s new cardi + a next top & a skirt that are too BIG:j (so now going to put them on e-bay)
Also bought the bra I so deperately neede at an ex- catalogue shop for £2.99:j
I've been thinking about using some of my clothing money as 'invest to save' & buying to resell on ebay. Knowing me of old I would probably make a loss!!
Anyway (I am wittering again) I didn't buy make up, toiletries, candles, magazines, coffee or flowers!!
I did sneak 3 packets of seeds into supermarket shop & even though I desperately wanted to go to the loo I didn't go for a coffee to justify using the toilet!! - It did come pretty close to disaster by the time I got home & neighbour wanted to chat!!
Well done to you all who have managed this week so well & a special well done to Mrs MH for weight loss.
I believe that life must be cheaper for slim people - you need less suntan lotion on holiday for a start!!0 -
Hi ShirleyPark - am hoping that the budget thing will get easier, I have been putting a lot of effort into it and hopefully have just about got it sussed. I reckon week 2 of this challenge will be telling - I'm determined to do it, and will keep posting here - feel free to give me a kick up the bum if I go off track
Thanks again x*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -

I knew there was a good reason to lose weight. Thanks pippo for pointing it out! :THe who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Thanks again x
I find that posting here helps me to keep motivated. Plus it also makes me think twice about spending money, just remember :money: says no :money:Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0 -
I agree SP - I never used to think about spending money (Guess that could be why I'm in Debt now!!)
But the unnecessary mantra stays in my head - you will see from before that I had 'forgotten' to buy clothes!! That's 'cos I now think are they necessary!!
Continuing on the it's cheaper to be thin theme - I guess you won't be charged for your baggage exceeding the limits 'cos if you skinny then your clothes are smaller & weigh less!!
I may eventually persuade myself to loose weight at this rate!!
Not having had chocolate (since my illegal Twirl) doesn't seem to have helped though:rotfl:0 -

I just lost my whole sodding post:mad:.
No unnecessary for me today. Still have £10.20. Will wipe out most of this and next weeks budget on a hair cut on Tuesday.
DH spent £34 on !!!!!! today from food budget  .
We have £129 until 22/5/07. I need fruit/ veg for this week and next. Have enough food in to hopefully just need bread and rolls mid week.
I hope I can do this because I want to replace the money from my savings by the time we go on holiday at the end of August.
I have another 4 paydays until then. So out of the 5 I would have to repay £581.48 per month. Perhaps a little over ambitious methinks despite the overtime! Oh well we shall see.
Are we starting a new thread on Monday or do we stick to this one?
TTFN everybody peeps.
Has anyone thought about starting a grocery challenge Mon- Sun or is there one that I have missed?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Totally unrelated but I have just worked out that if we can stick to or under the food budget for the month and DH brings home at least £921.42 then we would be able to over pay my Mum loan repayments by £3.40 (brings it back to a round number and I'm anal!). We would also be able to make the £581.48 savings repayment.
At the moment we are in the middle of redoing our outside space as we have horrendous damp. That involves me digging up all of the masses of concrete surrounding our house as it's too high. When this is done we'll need to replace the patio back and front and replace the path down the side of the house. We're going to gravel the path and I'm putting in a new flower bed at the front of the house. I have a raised bed at the back which I'm going to move the earth from and My uncle brought down loads of white quartz from my Grandads old house at christmas. This is going to be free.
I'm hoping that I have enough left in credit notes from B&Q to be able to buy the rest of the stuff to get it finished. Then I just have to save up enough money to get someone in to lower my manhole cover. I looked it up on the net but it looks a bit complex for me.
I then need to repair and skim the sandstone at the front of the house before I get my new front door. My lovely neighbour is getting at trade price so it's £250 instead of £570. He's going to fit it as I can't and DH doesn't want to. I just need to wait until he gives me a price. Then The whole of the front of the house needs repainting and we can sort the back. I am very excited because my house will then be able to be redone inside downstairs but DH can't start it until we've got the damp done. This is why I want to be on minimum spends for the time being and I will enjoy the £10 challenge because any money I do save I can then spend on doing all of this work.
(By the way- I just realised that it sounds bad that DH isn't doing the outside stuff. He will be it's just that I'm at home during the day and he's at work so If the kids are being good for 1/2 hour I can start digging up concrete or when I drop DS at preschool I can do it then if I'm not in bed. DH on the other hand has the pleasure of spending the evening ironing tonight!)
Sorry for wittering it's just I wanted to explain myself as I am also a MFW and my debts don't look too horrendous when written down. Well they do to me!!!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
