Sky tv contract help

Hi all, I need some advice. I have a 3 month old contract with sky tv, I signed up for it from one of these sky reps outside our supermarket. At the time I stated to the rep that I'm not interested in HD but he said why don't you try it for 3 months and if you don't want it you can cancel, I have just called to cancel and they say I can't because I am in a 12month contract. I know I'm not going mad, because my partner was with me and she remembers the same. I have asked them to produce a signed contract that says I agree to have a 12 month contract, but they keep ignoring my requests and basically saying tough s##t:mad: have I got the right to insist they produce this contract, or I cancel my direct debit, and take it up with the ombudsman?
They also messed up my multiroom order, and when I called them at the time of installation to rectify it, they were not interested, and ignored 2 attempts of contact by myself.
I hope someone can shed some light on my rights.
Thanks in anticipation.

I'm not sure whether you actually want to cancel HD or Sky outright. If it's Sky you want to cancel totally then you are definitely in a 12 month contract I'm afraid.
As for your Multiroom, if Sky failed to install as requested then you need to be a little more persistent than two "attempts at contact"0 -
Also, they do not require a 'signed' contract. Your verbal agreement, and installation provide this, and as soon as you make any payment to account, it is confirmed. You can certainly lose HD, but not the 12 month minimum term - which will have to be paid. This is to recover the installation costs.0

Dont under any circumstances cancel your dd, they will still chase you for the money, and your credit will be trashed for years.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Apparently they often lie. It's your word against his. This has been discussed many times here, and on other forums. Before signing or agreeing to anything, people should do exhaustive research and ensure they get a written contract.
