Best broadband deal?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me please.

I am after a cheap ish broadband telephone & possibly tv but only basic tv looking to pay around £30 a month at the most really.

I am currently with 02 but moving properties in a week so will be going with someone else due to all the problems i have had. I have found one with talktalk phoneline, tv youview box and broadband for around £30 ish or so.

But the internet says this for the speed
Your estimated speed: 4.4 Meg

That's a speed range between 2.4 and 6.1 Meg

Now im not very good at technical stuff but i was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is fast or slow please? We use the internet everyday around 2-3 hours for general browsing etc but i dont want really slow internet.

Is this a good deal? Or bad?

Or does anyone know of any good deals atm for around £30 if possible? thank you :)

xx

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I have just signed up with EE, £16.50 for unlimited usage and speeds up to 20mb ( if your line can support it) with phone line too, thats with a discount for being an orange/T mobile customer, if not the price is £19 for broadband and land line, then use the saving for Freesat or Freeview!

Do an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your LLU options. 4.4MBps is OK, but if that is the maximum that your line can support, then that is all you will get, unless you pay extra for cable or fibre, if available.
TT LLU is very cheap, but for a reason.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I've found the same deal on Topcashback.

£5 per month Plus £14 line rental but you get £100 cashback making it a combined £10.67 per month ;)
  • With EE dont forget you also get the slowest speeds after 5pm and the worst customer services run from India. You have been warned, pay peanuts get monkeys.I was with this outfit for 6 months

I thought it sounded too good.

Well I signed up now, and hopefully I won't need customer services as I find the out of UK ones not good at all.

I agree with this. I`m with Orange and will be leaving for Sky or BT because i`m sick of spending 20 minutes repeating the same thing whenever I call they`re Indian "Technicians"

I`d rather pay more than put up with that :(
  • Don't forget if you have recently signed up you do have a cooling off period, please use it

7 days it is, which have past.

TBH I can't afford a lineland and BB at full price so I will just have to cross my fingers and hope, up to now it has went quite smoothly...come to think of it, my order didn't go through the first time, so I got a call from the first person I spoke with who took the order, I guess they were worrying they wouldn't get here commission, so I had to give my mac code again and I am meant to go live on Thurs but no modem yet  oh no what have I done, virgin have been great but their prices are just too much.

The broadband market seems to be one with a pretty poor or low bar to start off with.
I have only ever been really happy (to the point of recommending) twice... and one was in France so doesn't work.....except it set a bar for me....

In the UK I had only good experiences with BE......

When I moved I had a BT landline and I hated BT...... after making life so difficult to leave them! As such I went with O2 who have purchased BE (or telfonica have).....

I have found O2 to be OK..... I had a couple of outages (not down to them) and have never used the phone line for a phone call.

I then had a year of hassle from BT.... they kept sending bills to the previous (deceased) owner..... I made the mistake of calling them and bigger mistake of giving my name.... despite me having a O2 contract they continued to bill me ......adding my name to the bill with the deceased name......
This continued until I threatened legal action!!!
I eventually got a letter stating I was in no way connected with the phone line at that property along with a cheque in the deceased name???? (For £12 or something).....

When I moved again I stayed with O2 as it seemed the path of least resistance and I had no phone line..... I might have shaved a few pounds off by shopping around more but given the letting agency refused to give me the phone number I was moving to and I NEED internet for work.... from day 1 or I have to spend £25/day going into the office..... I just went with it....

I'm not unhappy with O2 compared to Virgin or BT...... and I get a discount due to having my mobile contract with them.

Moving with them was not difficult..... and on occasion they had problems they refunded me automatically..... (some ++stard stole the copper cabling and put all phones and internet in our area out for 3 days).....they also texted me everyday with a status..... (Unlike my local station that couldn't sell tickets for 3 days due to the same problem)

When I have had call I speak to someone with a UK accent..... (albeit Scots :D)

So ..... I dunno.... perhaps its worth changing ISP or perhaps not?
