Have you tried selecting the USB stick from a boot menu rather than changing the boot priority in the BIOS?

Sounds silly, it should have the same affect but this isn't always the case.
  • Thanks guys. Will try reburning it. Funny though that the ubuntu website doesn't state that.

Will update once I have tried it!

    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Actually it does, sort of, but in a way that assumes that you know that's what you have to do in the first place.:)

If you go to the download page, http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop, it has links giving you instructions on how to burn a DVD and also how to create a bootable USB stick.

It never tells you to just copy the .ISO file onto the DVD...

another great way of booting ISOs particularly Linux ISOs is by using the the Yumi multiboot system http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/ or SARDU systems http://www.sarducd.it/. You can put single ISOs on or better still several ISOs including rescue ones, Linux or even Windows all available off a USB flash drive.

Unetbootin makes life easy. I recently " burned" Linux Mint 14 to an SD card using it. And I am posting this from my Mint 14 install using that SD card to install it. :)

    Same here.

Although I put it onto a USB drive so I could have a bootable live version of Linux mint 14 cinnamon for the wife and son to get used to, then after a week installed it onto the hard drive.

    Good OS.
  • I would guess that the original poster has sorted his problem but xboot is a good way of putting multiple things on a USB for live booting
