Only the High Rate DLA Mobility Component or the War Pensioners Mobility Supplement give access to the Motability Scheme.

No other benefits or situation give access to Motability and yes they are strict on this.

  • Yes theyre strict because it is that high rate that pays for the car directly. They seem to of got alot stricter too, 3 years ago I was able to buy my sons car but now it is lease only

Rubbish - Motability still operate the HP scheme.

I am 12 months into a 3 year lease through Motability, but given the possibility that I will lose my HRM when PIP comes in, I am now changing the vehicle to a HP deal.

Have seen a 15 month old Insignia SRI top of the range diesel for £8890. After the end of the agreement the car is mine.
My HRM will be more than the monthly payments. My DLA payments go straight to Motability. No credit check and no deposit needed. It is available for cars costing up to £9400. A 3 year manufacturer warranty comes with it and no road tax to pay.

With the lease, the car can be repossessed at any time.

a insignia top of the range vx-line sri diesel 60 plate 12k second hand. 10 plate £10895

    your full of it andy.

    - all applications submitted before April 1st 2010, will continue to run to [April 2013] end of contract

The Motability HP Scheme [as such] closed to new applicants on the 1st April 2010. Someone on this forum just 6 weeks ago had a successful application with a Motability WAV / accessories Hire Purchase Application.

    HP agreements are available.

borrow £9381 over 4 years or
    borrow £7264 over 3 years

After the end of the agreement the car cannot be any older than 7 years and when purchased must have less than 46,000 miles on the clock

so a 3 year old car costing £9381 paid over 4 years or
a 4 year old car costing £7264 paid over a 3 year period.

Motability don't want to do the deal but they can if you push hard enough.

I spoke to a lovely lady last week who said that more and more people are now asking for this due to the fear of losing their DLA (HRM) when PIP comes in next year.
With HP, you are building equity into the car and it will be yours at the end of the agreement

I beg to differ, I leased a ford focus for 3 years and decided to buy over HP for the next 3, would cost £6500 and I still had to put a deposit down on it...

Oh I do do I? Seems that 54 people think otherwise!

And what gives you the right to criticise what other posters say?

No you need to get your story straight. One minute you don't claim any benefits. They next minute you're in support group of ESA. Now it's DLA......
