Whoever 'they' are, sorry but its not true.

You can keep it for another two years if its done less than 15k in the 3 year lease (still paying the full £53 per week for an 'old' model), but to keep it you will have to buy it.
  • They are the dealer i got it from. I kinda suspected there would be a catch, sometimes when something seems to good to be true etc...... Cheers for clarifying though x

gingergee believes what suits her, her motability car is used for her husbands self employed business etc. and for any other use her partner and family has which is wrong under the tax disc terms.

She needs to read the leaflet and get any questions answered in writing from Swansea before using the car/tax disc

That's quite disgusting if true and no doubt panders to the belief of many that a minority (or majority in their view) abuse the system for their own ends. Despite my son having access to drive my car it sits on the drive idle most days, he only uses it when running errands for me, mostly for shopping. It's also used by me for my regular hospital trips but even so, I doubt I'll even breach 5000 miles before it's first 12 months service.

I would however be totally lost without it, I don't get out as often as I should but it's an absolute boon for being able to get to and from regular physio sessions (rather than hours of waiting for the patient ambulance) and also for the good days when I feel able to take a trip to the coast and stuff.

It really is saddening that some choose to let others use their Motability vehicles for their own use and if the latest round of reforms don't lead to loss of the car I'm sure that satellite technology will become involved to monitor the use of these vehicles due to the abuse by the few. :(

Its true and as you say its sad that so many people abuse the system and that makes life harder for those of us who dont because the none disabled community tar us all with the same brush.

There are people who do much worse mind you, I know of two families with children in group homes who get motability cars from the childs HRMC (they lose the care part of the award because they are funded in the home but THE CHILD retain the mobility side) and use the car as the family car while rearly even visiting the child! I have reported both but nothing seems to have been done about it, its absolutly disgusting in my view.
