help with water rates when on benefits?

hi all im hoping someone could advise me.im currently claiming ESA and have just recieved a water bill for nearly £200! im gobsmacked im very very careful with water so dont understand how it can be so high.what i would like to know is if i cant pay it what do i do? i get around £170 a fortnight and can no way afford to pay such a high bill is there any help you can recieve when on benefits atall?

    You could make an application to your water company's charitable trust for help with your charges. Simply ask your water company for the forms needed to apply.

    You don't have to be on benefit BTW, but it probably helps.

    Why is the bill that amount ? Is it water used on a meter or rates ? You can ask for a payment plan and then pay off some each week/ fortnight or month.

    Call your water company and ask them what they will offer you

    i know its high..the bill said only £46 of it was water we used the rest was stuff like water that reaches the highway? and rainwater that had came off our roof! how on earth can they estimate something like that or charge you for blooming rain.

    Surface drainage is based on a fixed proprtion of your actual usage. You still haven't said if you are on metered or RV billing? If the latter, you may be better off switching to a metered supply.
