Nope. Unless the regs have changed it is not legal to use equipment that broadcasts a cellular signal without a licence.0 -
If you want to keep your Skype number for incoming calls and just want another way of dialling out from your mobile (over WiFi) there is a solution and you could stay on GiffGaff too. You would still receive incoming calls over Skype but, for outgoing calls, use DialNow.
You can sign up for a DialNow account at https://www.dialnow.com and register your Skype & GiffGaff numbers with them. You can choose which CallerID (Skype or GiffGaff) to display on outgoing calls.
DialNow has client software for Apple, Android, Nokia, Blackberry, Windows mobile and Windows desktop. You even have the option of using the service via a geographical access number from a land-line or non-smartphone mobiles.
Registration with DialNow is free, the client software is free and there are no monthly charges whatsoever and no per-call connection fees. It is a prepay service (minimum 10 Euros + VAT) and your credit lasts indefinitely. Literally, all you pay for is outgoing calls at incredibly low rates.
And what are the rates? Well, just 0.1p/min. to UK land-lines and 0.5p/min. to UK mobiles. Yes, those prices are correct!!!! You even get advised of the per minute cost when you hit the dial button. The international rates are pretty damned good too. You will no longer need to use SkypeOut.
If you don't like paying a subscription for a SkypeIn number there are ways around that too, for a one-off fee of just £3! You can then abandon Skype calls forever!0 -
Just to correct Diamonds above.
I use Orange UMA/Signal Boost to get a good signal indoors. SKY provide my broadband and it works perfectly.0
