Hi,

Had the boiler service guy in today & he says the repairs to this would end up more expensive than a new boiler. It seems that it's been leaking for some time, but a bodge-DIY job had managed to keep it down to a slow seep that either the previous guys didn't notice or didn't think was worth mentioning.

Argh!

He showed me round & there's green & rust in an awful lot of places. Looks like the whole pump is covered in it & ofc we can't see past it to what else is wrong.

Replacement quote was £650 for new boiler & £650 to fit. Possibly also another £280 as he couldn't find the working pressure test point to see if our pipes were good enough.

(I bet they aren't the whole extension seems to be bad, whoever built it in 1985 couldn't even make the bathroom long enough for a bath & put it in backwards)

Any educated opinions available about the quote & also how hard is it to get parts for this boiler.are they expensive?

Thanks
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

Can't give precise information but I had a Saunier Duval boiler some years ago.
I have a vivid memory of a repair in 1996 costing me £250 and I know I wasn't ripped off. Allowing for inflation, the information on the parts being more expensive than a new boiler of another make is probably correct.
